Morgan's Special Spot
It is a long ways from Iowa to The Gulf coast........ Greetings from Camp Victor in Ocean Springs, Mississippi!
Our trip began at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday as the voice of god through the Electronic Oracle Tomtom led us south. Driving straight through to make it to Ocean Springs before lights out at 10:00 pm, we opted for a rolling picnic for lunch, where Zan and Susan served sandwiches made to order from the backseat. The ultimate contrast in sandwiches orders came from the front, where Matt wanted turkey on white, nothing else, and Scott wanted the works: Ham, Peanut butter, Jelly, Cheddar Cheese, and Mayo on Wheat. After searching for more than an hour, we finally found the authentic BBQ jackpot at Rose’s BBQ, and gas station. With 20 minutes to spare before lights out at the camp, we rolled in to Camp Victor at 9:40. After a quick tour and some showers, our first day was over. We were happy to be out of the van.
Day 2: Sunday Word of the Day: Gorgeous!
Our GORGEOUS day began with a beautiful Palm Sunday service at Cristus Victor Lutheran Church at 10:30. Their bell choir was amazing! After church we ate lunch at a local sea food restaurant (that also

Living on the wild side, Scott and Susan ate a soft shell crab Po Boy, which they said was excellent. Despite our best efforts Zan could not be persuaded to try anything off the sea food platter. Not even when Scott served it to him on his I-Phone. A very wonderful lady bought us dessert after she learned that we were a group from Iowa here to do mission work. Another group from Iowa had helped her just after the hurricane and she was extremely grateful for them. Her kind gesture made us all the more ready to get to work. After lunch we headed to the beach where we soaked up some sun and played in the sand. With the temperature at 73 the day, along with the scenery, was GORGEOUS! The water was a little cold but didn’t We returned to the camp in time for a spaghetti supper and orientation. During orientation we heard a lot of stories about how God has had an active hand in helping the people recover.

Rose's Bar-B-Que
It took about an hour but we found one. An honest to goodness combination gas station/Bar-B-Que spot work. Our mission for this week is to do the landscaping around a historical building. Before the Hurricane Ocean Springs and Biluxi was well known for its beautiful, historical homes. They took great pride in the history of these old buildings. Unfortunately, during the hurricane nearly all of the historic buildings in the area were completely destroyed. A Casino in the area found an old building on one of their properties, bought a lot, moved it to Biluxi, and donated it to the city. The building is currently being renovated and will be used as a community center that can host weddings and other special events.
A quick apology to readers, due to unreliable wireless, we are having some trouble getting our blog updated. Hopefully our internet problems will subside and we can get our blog rolling.
