• It continue today because modern day pirates are surrounding ship using small boats and demand money from the ship's owner and/or the crew's family, aking people hostage.
• Their advising ship owners to take desiganted routes, so they won't become a victim of ship highjacking. I beleive there is another soloution. Since the world is mostly based on technology, ship owner can install a GPS tracking device in their ship. The tracking device would be activated by the crew of the ship in times of an emergency. A message would be sent to the U.S. Coast Guard.
• I'd say no. Pirates take innocent lives and cause people to go into debt, and lose money .
