• Piracy continues in the modern world today thanks to the pirates in areas like Somalia.
• Piracy "back in the day", if you will, was approved by the monarchs to further help the kingdoms economy. Piracy today is strictly for personal gain helping pirates, like the Somalians, bring in over one hundred million dollars.
• Authorities ,like the United States Navy, are pleading ship owners to avoid areas where Somali pirates tend to stike. The Navy is also physically combating the pirates. A sort of police force was formed to fight the pirates, but that did not end so well, with the Puntland Maritime Police Force being left to their own wit. I think that a solution to help end the pirates is to call in the Marine Corps to have them do a quick job of the pirates
• I think that piracy is justifiable as long as the only people who get hurt need to be hurt. I'm all for taking from the rich and giving to the poor, but as soon a innocent lives get put into the crossfire, it's a problem. When you're looting from people who won't miss whats being stolen, it is also justifiable in that case.
