Hawaii is a part of the United States since 1959; making it the newest and the 50th state of the country. State of Hawaii consists of hundreds of volcanic islands spread over the area of 1500 miles. However, there are only eight main islands. Honolulu is the capital of the State of Hawaii, located on Oahu Island. We had considered visiting Oahu, Lanai, or Kauai islands. However, we finalized Oahu, as it had the combination of a city life and quiet secluded beaches.

We had reserved our beach front room at Marriott’s Waikiki Beach Resort at the Waikiki Beach through Expedia. Air tickets with Hawaiian Air.

We reached Honolulu Airport around 1 pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. We could feel Hawaii as soon as we got off the flight! It was so warm and cozy outside… At the airport, we inquired about the ways to get to the Waikiki beach hotels. Cheaper and convenient way to get to any of hotels near Waikiki beach is through Robert’s Waikiki Hotel shuttle. However, it might take a long time! We reached the hotel by 3 pm. The view from the room was just amazing! We had a spectacular unobstructed view

of the Pacific Ocean!! In the evening, we witnessed a wonderful sunset right from the balcony of our room! No words to describe it…

The next morning, we hit the beach right in front of our hotel. Very few hotels have direct access to the Waikiki beach. Most of the hotels are on the other side of the Kalakaua Street. However, the beach is really easily accessible from all the hotels.

Waikiki beach is not as beautiful and secluded as other beaches of Hawaii. It is clearly an over-populated and touristy beach… However, it is not at all a negative point for Waikiki beach hotels. As, there are number of activities to do and most of the places are very easily accessible from the area. Most of the outfitters provide to and fro transportation for all the expeditions.

We signed up for parasailing and jet-ski combo-expeditions for the afternoon with Xtreme Parasail. Parasailing was a blast! We also got our pictures taken while in the air… and in the water! They also dipped us in the ocean while pulling us back to the boat. After parasailing, they drove us to another private marina for jet-ski. Jet-ski was

fun as well. Check out some of the pictures!

In the evening, we made some spontaneous plans of island hoping and going to the Big Island for some volcano watching!
