Poi'pu Beach at sunset
Aloooooooha! This is the first and last hello you will get from Hawai'i, and we apologize to everyone for not posting anything sooner! Kate and I are awaiting a lovely steak dinner her parents have prepared for tonight's "Last Supper." Don't worry, we've addressed Kate's vegaterian needs as well....
The days since I've been here have been absolutely amazing! Lots of beach everyday! We played tennis the first day I was here and Kate and I totally wooped Megan and Ali in a doubles match 6 games to 2...sorry girls, your sister taught me to play a tight game of tennis.
New Years came and we all had our fare share of spirits, before and after the amazing fireworks display over the Pacific Ocean in front of the Sheraton in Poi'pu.
On the second last day here we all went for an incredible catamaran tour of the northwest corner of the Kauai island and saw humpback whales, and a huge pod of dolphins that swam alongside the vessel. We also had a wonderful swim stop where we were allowed to jump off the deck and do flips right into the warm ocean! The trip sounds all fine and dandy but I

wont get into the torrential downpour we endured for the first 45 min - about half of the ship was sea sick due to the huge swells! The Mackay clan and I, however, faired quite well and it was smiles all around 😊
On the last day, (today) after Kate and I had the majority of our packing done this morning, we went and spent just another 6 hours at the beach snorkeling off and on and enjoying the hot, hot sun! There must have been dozens of different kinds of fish we saw out in the little bay!
After this blog post Kate and I are off to the Lihue airport (hopefully Joanne can hold herself together!) to catch a Hawaiian Air MD-83 to Honolulu where we will remain for the rest of the night until we start our check in routine at 4:30am to Bangkok!
We hope everyone reading this had a wonderful Christmas holiday and we wish you all the best in the New Year! You are all in our thoughts as we set out on this amazing adventure...

Stay tuned...

Monk seal - meditating

are we having fun yet?!
Love the descriptive update from Hawaii! - we look forward to equally informative blogs during your travels! The pictures are very much appreciated too! I'm sure Dave will be proud of you bud regarding safety first! I'm anxious to hear how you managed during the departure Joanne? :) As well as I did at Vancouver International? haha I had to do it all again 2 days later with Brianna's departure to Argentina, except she had to endure a delay due to a Bomb Threat on her plane at YVR, which resulted in missing her two connecting flights in Mexico City and Buenos Aires! Anyway, I am happy to hear all kids are safe and happy at their current destinations! All the best to you Ty and Kate.......we love you!
