As many of you already know, spring break is the time of year all colleges students embark on outrageous trips that show just how much you can actually party in a weeks time. I however, choose to break away from the tradition of going to Panama City Beach or Cancun. Instead, I wanted a real experience, something none of the other college students were doing, and plus my friend's birthday was during spring break, so it was a win-win situation. We started planning this trip in February and as the stress of mid-terms dwindled down, it was time to go an adventure we would never forget. St. Augustine is unlike any other place I've been to, this city is rich in history you just can't get out of any textbook, and the architecture of the churches/buildings and even the engraved brick-paved sidewalks show a time of antiquity.
Our trip started at a bed and breakfast called Ancient City Inn, and supposedly, this B&B has friendly ghosts inside and their names are Martha Lee and the Colonel. The owners were delightful and decided to upgrade us to their two-bedroom suit, which we were thankful off because it would have been tight
quarters if we only had one room to sleep four people. This was the first time I have ever stayed at a bed and breakfast, and I would recommend staying at one at least once in your life. I told my friends about a ghost tour (St. Augustine is notorious for this) that I have been on in the summer when I went with my family. It's called GhoSt Augustine and we chose to do the Everdark Express tour where they take you to a shop that sells vintage and antique goods, a cemetery, a room upstairs from a British pub, and the grounds of the St. Augustine lighthouse. When we first arrived at the vintage shop, we immediately headed for the backroom that was rigged with a camera that detected orbs and had a ghost voice translator. The tour guide instructed us to ask yes or no questions, while he put a flashlight in the middle of the room. I noticed that I was the only one asking the majority of the questions, and when I did, the flashlight would turn off or on repeatedly. My friends were terrified of what was happening and stayed quiet the full length
Katelyn and I
By the Castillo De San Marcos we were there. When I asked her why she wasn't talking, my friend Katelyn goes, "I was about to pee my pants because I was so scared!". We did however get a few words that was picked up on the voice translator, "Mason, truck, toys, young, and floor". After, the tour guide showed us a picture of a twenty year old waiter from across the street named Madison who died from a hit-and-run accident. The day after the tour, we decided to head back to the same store and meet the owner to ask her about other paranormal experiences she's encountered at her place. After being introduced to her, I must say she is one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met and I can see why she has friendly ghosts in her store. We decided to tell her about our encounters the night before and explained what we heard. She says, "I can't believe you guys didn't put the puzzle together." She explained how Madison got hit from a truck while riding his bike home from his job one evening and was immediately killed on impact. She also said he came to her store after he died because she
met him at the restaurant across the street and one cool night, she offered to buy him a jacket because he was shivering from being outside. My friends and I all looked at each other, the look in our eyes said it all, we were actually talking to Madison that night! This was just the beginning to our trip.
It was our last night, and we decided to walk around town and see if we could find any place good to eat. With no luck, we randomly turned down a street with fire eater in the front, this obviously caught our attention so we decided to watch. I noticed that this place was more or less a museum filled with oddities and we paid five to get in. This place (Wolf's Museum of Mystery) was interesting to say the least, and if your into horror movies like The Exorcist and TV shows like American Horror Story, this is your place to go. After roaming around for a few minutes, my friend was approach by a random lady that was asking her bizarre questions like "What is your favorite state?" and "What was your favorite subject in school?" I thought
she was just another museum looker, but it turns out she was a past life regressionist and told my friend Ally that she was gravitated toward her for some reason. After we talked for what seemed like hours, she told us everything from who we were related to, to the types of animals we were most like. She claimed I was related to Cleopatra and had strong ties to Egypt, she also said I will travel a lot during my life time (which was great to hear 😊 ), but what really struck me was when my friend Ally asked about her grandmother. The woman perfectly described her grandmother and told her she was one of the two spirits beside her. Everyone started bawling their eyes out because Ally then explained to us how she died and how significant she was to her in her life. This was truly the best experience of all.
I must say, St. Augustine is like no other place. I mean where can you get paranormal entities and fascinating oddities at? You guessed it, St. Augustine. I would highly recommend going her at least once in your life to experience what it feels like
to be in touch with your spiritual side and to learn why this city is named the oldest city in America.
