Treasure Hunting
The sunrise was beautiful but I couldn’t make myself get out of bed to get the camera. Tomorrow I will set the alarm to make sure I capture it, it’s worth it.
At 4 am I woke and looked out and there were stars all over the heavens. It was 43 degrees so I was not heading outside in those temps to star gaze, but decided if the weather warmed up at all I would make a point to see how the stars are here. Maybe later tonight.
I watched the news as best I could as the signal kept fading in and out to find out about the snow storm up north but they never talked about it. Don’t know what happened.
After a shower and breakfast Oscar and I headed out to hike a trail on the north side of the peninsula and get a different look at things. But we were waylaid on the way by some birds at the bridge. While I was there a deer crossed the marsh and disappeared into the woods. I finally saw one!
Then there were the usual egrets, snowy egrets and mergansers
to see and of course I HAD to take their pictures. Then 2 great blue herons got into a snit with each other and they each strutted around very annoyed. Must be a territory thing. Picture
We finally made it to the trail and headed up the peninsula to see what that was all about. The water is very shallow with some water birds and ducks there but no vegetation in the water just the marsh grasses. Picture. It was a little boring and I was concerned about snakes so we headed back to walk on the road, safer for Oscar. One bite from even a small poisonous snake and he would be history. I did see a dusky pigmy rattlesnake at another campground and they are prevalent here so no sense in taking chances. I’m not reckless all the time.
My new friend Becky came by on her bike so we visited for a short time and we each were on our way.
It was lunch time and beach time by then so I took Oscar back to the house and got food and chair and camera and headed off to see what the beach was
like today. There has been very strong winds for several days and I thought the shell picking might be good. The skies were beautifully clear with bright sun but the temps were still cool and the wind had a bite to it. I stopped in a spot near the dune and settled in to read my book. After a time I got cold and went for a walk on the beach but didn’t get far because there were treasures to be had. The shells were all over and what’s a body to do but look for that long sought after perfect shell. Will I ever stop shell hunting! I didn’t find anything totally fabulous but somehow a bag got heavier and heavier. I have great ideas about making things when I get home, who knows maybe it will happen.
As I was getting ready to leave a turn was fishing right in front of me begging to have his picture taken. So there are 2 pictures of him included.
I came back and fed Oscar and I had dinner myself, I was really hungry today. So the evening is here and I missed sunset, oh well ,tomorrow
