Moving day.
Interesting date..
I said good -bye to Kat this morning and reflected on all the fun times we have had over the last several weeks. We have spent 6 weeks together and it seems like just a few days, where does the time go! Our adventures have been many and she is a wonderful teacher for me about how to spend the winter in FL on a shoestring. I have learned so much from her and Ginny too about rving and the wide world out there to explore. So many thanks especially for sharing. This has been the first time that I spent 2 weeks at a time in one place and I did it twice. Thank God for the car. I did learn to settle in and relax and enjoy the area, and relax more. Usually I am constantly on the go because I don’t want to miss anything in the short time I will be someplace. Relax and enjoy, that’s the trick!
I started out at 9:15 am, knowing I had at least 5 hrs ahead of me. I chose rt 27 which is a 4 lane
state road through some small towns but more direct than 75 which is an interstate and out of the way some. It turned out to be a good choice, less hectic and nice scenery along with not as much wind.
Today started out at 37 degrees and then the wind picked up and the clouds were dense. As I traveled west and north the clouds broke up but the wind continues to howl. We have some major cold front down here right now and it feels like home in late March.
I arrived at St Joseph Peninsula State Park at 2:45 pm and was given directions to my campsite and all the rules and regulations that pertain to this park.
I found the site and drove past it to find a place to unhook the car, level and straight. That done I settled into the site, which is small compared to what I just left, but all of the parks are different. This one is on the Gulf of Mexico and very popular so they made the sites close together. There are a few trees that break it up but I sure hope I like my neighbors.
The rest rooms are just a min walk away so I like that and the beach is a 4 min walk.
Oscar was totally rammey so I walked him as soon as I had the camper leveled and the electric plugged in. Dogs are not allowed on the beach or in the nature areas so I checked the map and we had a great walk around the campground and a board walk that connects the other campground to this one. We got home about 4:30, he ate and went right to bed, too cold for him outside.
I found a different rum the other day and I wanted to have a drink outside and try it. It is Bacardi Oakheart, a smooth spiced rum. It is aged in oak barrels so it has a hint of a bourbon taste. I love it! So I got my yellow solo cup and chair and decided to walk to the beach for sunset. The wind was fierce, the temp a cool 49 so needless to say I didn’t last long. Sunset is about 6:40 or so and I was frozen way before then. I did really enjoy the rum and my
dinner as I missed lunch.
I programmed the tv to get the local channels, a whopping 3! No networks just cooking and travel so I guess I’ll do lots of reading, and the blog with pictures. Maybe I’ll drink more rum!
