We have been so lucky to catch the Pine Island Monthly Art Weekend again. The official name is "Pine Island - Florida's Creative Coast Weekends." Wes bought me a beautiful bronze crab pendant (because of my Zodiac sigh; not because I am crabby) at Island Visions. We had lunch at the Old Fish House, Ice Cream at Great Licks, and dinner at Sandy Hook (food is art, after all!). Adding some photos of this very artsy town - Matlacha really doesn't need a formal "art night;" it's always arty here.

We didn't get there while they were offering music here in Bokeelia on Friday night. But we loved sitting on this very campy porch?

Pine Island has a great deal of "signage as art!"

The man playing the bongo is also a potter who owns the gallery. He makes clay drums. Koucky Gallery is in a peaceful garden setting.

Wes bought this for me at Island Visions during Art Weekend. It's cast bronz. I just love it. Jewelry is such a great souvenier - fits in the suitcase!

Great combo - Art Gallery with attached ice cream parlor. A photographer from the tourism bureau was shooting here for the chamber web site; so do look for us on line!

Very nice food on Art Night Saturday. Nice view, too!

People decorate with wild abandon. This isn't Englsh ivy on stone! Taxidermied fish and other marine and fishing memoribelia, totems, flamingos, bright pastels, etc. After a while it all makes perfect sense.

Jay was wonderful at Woody's the Friday of Art Weekend.

The little strip of galleries in Matlacha as you enter Pine Island has a great ice cream shop. There is a Dairy Queen near the four corners on the island. The main intersection has four way stop signs. There are no traffic lights. Everyone is very civil.

Art n' Ice Cream
Ben and Jerry's in Saratoga should combine an Art Gallery like Island Visions! Matlacha looks like a fun place to visit!

Don't do it Wes
Sure Wes, you buy Joanne some jewlery and it's not a holiday and not even her birthday! Where does that leave the rest of us with our wives? They'll all be saying look, Wes buy's his wife jewlery just for the heck of it, what do you buy me? (I got her some detergent last week.....) Wes, if your going to do these things, keep it off the blog will ya. We have lives to lead. Humorusly, Mark.
