Today we were up at around 8:30am, and we got showered and dressed before going down to the lobby for some breakfast. We once again had our pancakes cooked for us, and we sat on one of the sofas to eat them. We came back up to the room for a little while, watched a bit of TV and then started to get our stuff together ready for the beach. We packed up our beach towels, put on some suncream and grabbed our parasol before setting out of the hostel at around 11am.
We reached the beach and set up the parasol, ready for when we wanted to get a bit of shade. We lay down our towels and then spent the next hour or so just basking in the sun (which was VERY hot today, probably mid 30's or so). After a while, we were getting a bit hot, and the ocean was starting to look very tempting, so we decided to go for a dip! We tentatively walked towards the water, expecting it to be a little chilly, however, it was lovely and warm once we were in! The sand slopes quite steeply once you get to the
water so after a couple of feet we were already up to our waists. We spent the next half an hour or so splashing around and bobbing up and down on the waves (some of which were pretty big), before going back to our parasol to dry off.
We couldn't really be bothered to apply anymore suncream for sunbathing (plus we both find it a little boring), so we sat in the shade for a while until we were dry. At around 2pm, we were starting to get a bit hungry, so we decided to take our stuff back to the room and go and get a sandwich from Walgreens. We each picked up a wrap/pitta and also a microwave/steam meal for our tea whilst we were there. We went back to the hostels kitchen to put our frozen meals in the freezer in there (we have a very small freezer compartment in the fridge in our room but it wouldn't have been big enough), then sat down at one of the tables to eat our dinner.
We put on the netbook, and found that the wifi seemed to work in the kitchen, so we went on Skype
to see if any of our families were on there. Emma spoke to her dad for a little while, and Craig messaged his mom on Facebook to see if she could go on Skype. She came online a little while later, and once we had chatted to her for a while, we came back to the room for a while.
We then decided to go for a walk and get some pictures of the 'Miami Ink' tattoo studio, which we had managed to miss the previous day, even though we must have walked right past it! We walked over to Washington Avenue, then made our way down the road, looking in the windows of the puppy store, and also another one that we must have missed the previous day. Again, we had to drag ourselves away and continue down the road, where we eventually saw the familiar windows of the 'LoveHate tattoo studio' (as it's now called), with the 'Miami Ink' logo in the window. We went inside to look at the merchandise, but couldn't see any of the more famous tattoo artists (we assumed that you probably have to prebook way in advance to get a tattoo from
one of them). We went back outside to take some pictures of the outside of the building, then set off back down the road.
Rather than walking back along the street, we decided to make our journey back along the beach, as it was now a bit cooler and the sun was just starting to set. We reached the beach, where we took a few photos, then started to walk along the sand near the water. It took us around 15 minutes or so to reach the opening in the fence that runs along the beach that we needed to pass through to reach the hostel. Once we were back, we went back to the room for a while to just chill out for a bit and watch some TV. At around 6:30pm, we went back downstairs to the kitchen to cook our meals for our tea. We ate them and then went to the lobby for a while to browse the internet for a while. Emma came back to the room after a little while to read her book that she had borrowed from the hostel, while Craig stayed downstairs to watch some Minecraft videos. Once he came
back up to the room, we spent the rest of the night watching TV/reading until we fell asleep at around 11:30pm.
