Brunswick to Ft. Pierce

these were our stopovers for this leg

The trip south from St. Augustine was warm and friendly to us. We still have to contend with strong currents, especially around bridges. The wildlife viewing has been great - lots of porpoises every day; manatees are now quite common, a variety of birds including our first sighting of wild flamingos - pelicans are a favourite as they make crash dives to nab unsuspecting fish.
We have met up with old friends Rick and Donna here in Fort Pierce - they are ready to launch "Lorbas" and head south too - we may buddy boat with them to Biscayne Bay

the pink feathers really caught our eye or we would have missed them

just glad we haven't had a pelican land on our windex yet!

they are much larger than the brown ones and prefer to sneak up on fish while swimming - the brown pelicans dive-bomb like kamikaze

full moon on the ICW - also means big tides and stronger currents

this is all you ever see of a manatee - they often just lie on the surface and many are killed every year by thoughtless powerboaters who run over them at high speed

I wouldn't want to depend on this anchor to hold us!

you can barely make out our mast as we are dwarfed by the big fishing boats in this marina

Feeling Warmer
Pics give me that wonderful warm feeling....good thing as I am just about to head out for a sled ride. Trails are now open...fresh snow this morning. The wind in my face will be slightly cooler than yours!

Hi guys, glad to hear you are in warmer weather. We are freezing right now. It's soooo cold our windshield wiper snapped off 'cuz we left it on when we turned on the car this AM. Off to Steamboat in a couple of weeks. 12 of our dock in Wiarton went to the boat show this weekend and hada good time. Enjoy the warm weather. Lou
