Here we are already in mid January. The Holidays went very well for us. We attended Midnight mass and were privileged to have a beautiful concert prior to the mass itself. On Christmas Day, we were invited by loopers, Bill and Phyllis Haan at their very nice residence on a canal in Bradenton, close to Sarasota. The meal was excellent and it was a super way to celebrate away from our families.

We left the Anclote River and entered the Gulf of Mexico again south of Anclote Key. There was a light chop and the wind was out of the east. Lots of crab pots were scattered around, not in lines like the northern part of the gulf. When Trevor radioed and said some of the floats were underwater, that made us a bit edgy. But we continued south without incident. The air became more hazy as the day warmed, and I guess the east wind blew some of the pollution out of the cities and out into the gulf. It was quite hazy ahead of us at times, while behind us it was clear and beautiful. The wind died in the early afternoon and the water became almost glassy, really pretty. We caught up with Sara and ... read more

We were invited by the staff of Longboat Key Moorings to attend four wines, four bites tasting alongside the pool, but the weather, although it was supposed to be nice and warm, was cool and no sun. Nevertheless, ... read more

It is cold, windy and surely doesn’t look like Florida at all. We were very close to freezing the last two nights, but nearby, they had a deep freeze. Thank God the sun is shining. The weather pattern is to change starting tomorrow and we are supposed to get more normal temperatures. It will be welcomed. Global warming, what is that? But at least, we do not have snow. You will notice how deserted the beaches are and the birds are frozen.
