Get your dancing shoes oiled up and ready to do some high stepping jigs. Today, many, many, many folks from our park gathered together for a very successful block party. The Tropical Palms staff organized it. Excellent job, staff! Chairs were set up and lined two streets in the Sandcastle section.
A huge bandstand held two, magnificent bands. First up was the Greg Warren band followed by the famous The Dukes (they play routinely at Old Town). Both were terrific....very loud.....Lulu held her ears....but still toe-tapping great. The party offered refreshments at a minimal charge. It began at 1:00 PM and ended at 7:00 PM. Hours of those good old "oldies" played that had many singing and dancing.
We sat in front of George and Carole's RV. When the first band ended, we used the intermission to move along side their RV to capture some shade. Oooo- that felt good. We had spent the majority of the day sitting in the hot, blazing sun. I'm not complaining......just stating it was hot and blazing. Lulu took it for as long as she could. She finally found her nest in her carry bag......out of the sun. She was happy. She gets
bad sunburns if out in it too long. She's difficult to get along with if she's uncomfortable.
We didn't last for the final songs to be played. Even though we had a super time, the sun and heat and maybe the drinks made us whipped and tired. We walked home around 5:30. If we had better stamina, we would have held out for more. The Dukes are the best! I wish all of you could have heard them. You would still be humming a happy tune. And tapping your toes. Lulu wishes she had toes to tap.
Cory, George and Sam got a second wind and walked up to the big show at Old Town this evening. The show is every Saturday night and draws crowds like at the Super Bowl. It seems that way if you are trying to get out of the parking areas and head home. Fortunately, we are all in walking distance so the traffic gridlock poses no concern for these hardy, old car enthusiasts.
Lulu & I? We are satisfied to kick off our shoes (well, mine anyway) and relax on the couch. Nothing exciting on TV so I did this blog. When
I am writing them, I think of each of you. Wondering what and how you are doing at the same time. We always hope and wish for happiness and good health for each of you.
Right now, our dear friend Judy (from the park), is in the Celebration hospital. We wish her to get well soon and offer her our prayers and good thoughts. Come home soon, Judy....we all miss you! Especially Lulu. She said she would be your nurse. She's limited in how to give you your medications, though (no hands, 'member). She makes for good company anyway. Plus she knows how to sing The Soft Kitty song to you....a song only sung when you don't feel well.....makes you better! Sheldon Cooper says so (The Big Bang Theory TV show....my favorite).
Because we have added some new friends on our blog train, I want to share a couple items with them - otherwise they will think we are two crazy characters who have an infatuation with a big head plus they might miss most of my blog photos. Topics include: #1-introducing Lulu to them, #2- how to make their way through the blog, itself. Close your eyes
Jeff & Lulu & Happy Guy
Lulu & Jeff finished off this keg if you have already been through this. You deal with enough verbiage without having to reread it again and again. But you can if you want, you know.
Welcome aboard new friends. We are so happy you have joined this merry bunch of travelers. We have had some interesting and fun times together. Most good...there are a few we have struggled through. They are all made better because you are right there with us. This is my 319th blog! Whew - are you kidding me? I knew I was chatty but come on now. Just call me a blabber mouth or "politically correct": loquacious, if you must. There are 110 of us together now....just like a flash mob, ready to gather at a moment's notice, and now you are a part of it. Everyone say "hi" to one another right now,,,,HI! We are so thrilled you have asked to be a part of our adventurous family. Be sure to buckle up when we take off on our excursions. Bring a walking stick if you want. There will time in between blogs to rest so don't worry about getting too exhausted (that comes when reading my detailed blogs). So let's
get started.
The Lulu Story
In 2012, our dear, sweet, loyal, beloved dog, Chip, passed away. He was the best chocolate lab in the world. We still miss him terribly to this day. He was the perfect photo prop...never complained and always willing to pose for my pictures. One in a million, he was. We had our RV trip planned to travel across the USA to see relatives in California and British Columbia. Before we left, we had a mishap with our RV...Cory mistakingly backed it into the church next door to us. Church was okay but the back end of RV was quite damaged. Thus, we took a detour to the Tiffin RV factory in Red Bay, Alabama where they ordered and put a new back end on our RV. This took a month so our cross country trip took us only as far as Texas. We still had a fantastic time and saw things we never thought we would see. Excuse me, I've digressed again. Cory knew I would need something to occupy my time and mind because of the loss of Chip so he bought me an Ipad. He is so good and thoughtful towards
me. I fought it at first but now the Ipad has become an appendage on my body. I love taking photos but always feel they need an eye catcher in them and Chip wasn't around anymore to be that perfect source. R.I.P., Chip. Thus, enter Lulu (the beautiful head lady). She was one of our flea market finds and has been setting on a shelf with 3 other sisters on our back patio storeroom. She had gorgeous flowing, long hair but it was way too much for me to deal with all the time. Not being a beautician, I gave her the best haircut I could. It's not good but she's not a complainer....what a sweetheart. So, when you see Lulu....you know where, why and how come she is always with us. She's a doll, for sure. We just love her. Because she has no legs or arms, she can squeeze into some very neat, tight spaces to enhance by photo taking. Hip-Hip Hooray for Lulu. Lulu says " hi" to all of YOU!
Blog instructions:
If the photos are too small, just tap on them and they will enlarge on a separate page. Also, continue to scroll
completely to the very bottom of the blog page (after the text ends) or you will miss half the pictures (most of the time). After the text ends, there is an area of ads, our picture and other jabber.....scroll below all that and you will see the remainder of all the pictures. I usually have anywhere from @ 8-20+ photos with each blog. Also, just below the text and usually a photo, it states the number of photos that are displayed. That way you can see the number of photos available for you to view. If any seem repulsive, just close your eyes. I try to be tactful, though. In this same area, there is a "previous entry" arrow to click on to take you back to see what you have missed....one entry at a time. I'm sure you don't want to have missed anything....Hah! Right now there are 319 blogs so if you are up to it, that back arrow could take you way back in time (years and years) to 2012 when I first started these blogs. Good luck! And again, Welcome to our group: The More The Merrier!
