Ho-Ho-Ho. Where’s the snow? Our family in the North can respond to that....they have it! Our daughter, Kim got stuck in it with 40” of snow in Binghamton, NY. This is our first Christmas in Florida and away from our family. Sniffle, Sniff! We are going to miss them so many times over than missing any snow. Because of my on-going physical therapy, it was not in the cards for us to return “home”. Christmas Day will be so different for us. No family, no snow, no cooking (goody). The highlight of this celebratory day will be dining out at the Golden Corral (aka: the Trough) It’s the only restaurant open and I’m taking full advantage of not cooking. A Christmas present I will enjoy.
?? We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
And bring it right here?? ?
Whaaaaat? Figgy pudding?! What is
it? Sounds soooo bad! No figgy pudding for us at the “Trough” (Golden Corral). No way. Take your figgy pudding elsewhere.
Before Christmas, we had Thanksgiving...’member that holiday? We did our “stay at home request”, “social distancing”, and “small gathering”. How did we do that you ask? Simple: we put up our folding table under our canopy, bought a prepared Thanksgiving dinner from Perkins, and shared our grateful celebration with our good friends, Sam & Sandy. Lulu took her position at the head of the table. Of course! Where else would you think she would be? We are so thankful for Sandy & Sam as well as all our other good friends, far and near.
While we were on an eating kick, the four of us made the rounds to some of our favorite eateries. We ate at The Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs. Guess what I had? Yup.....my favorite: the tuna melt. Boy, it was just as delicious as I remembered. So yummy! Only thing missing was the free piece of chocolate candy from the Ghirardelli’s store. Darn Covid! Suck it up Buttercup! A minute on your lips, forever on your hips....remember that, Guenter!
Another
day, we sped off to Bar Harbor, our favorite place for fresh seafood. Sandy and I ordered their special of the day: two large lobsters with drawn butter for $15.98. Yes....that’s right! Two of them! Ooooh, to die for! It doesn’t get much better than this. Cory & Sam got their fried shrimp dinner with is mighty tasty, too.......but oh, those lobsters.....Ay yi yi!
Our friends continue to gather under our canopy for morning coffee. Art was our first friend to come when we arrived in September. By now, you all should know who Art is. He is the Electrician Guru, the Fix-it Man for everyone’s problems, the God-Send to us all. He is a humble man and sits in our canvas lawn chair.....he truly should be sitting on a Golden throne! Our neighbor, Grant & Theresa, bought a golf cart that didn’t run. Can you guess who fixed it and got it running? Yup- Art! The back seat on our golf cart got wet and nasty. Cory bought more wood, foam and covering. Can you guess who put it together for us so we now have a new seat? Yup - Art! Everyone is so thankful for Art.
He is the best! His lovely wife, Donna, knows that better than any of us.
We had a visitor the other day. Cory & I jumped with fear when something sailed right up to our windshield. WOW.....Whaaaaaat was that! We quietly snuck outside the RV and saw a hawk perched on the roof of our RV. I snapped a couple photos. After going back inside, this inquisitive Hawk landed right outside our window and stayed there for awhile. It wasn’t really like the movie “The Birds”, more like the attack of the Hawk, but still quite fascinating.
In our park, there is a section where many wonderful, colorful cottages line their little narrow streets. The cottages are called Sandcastles. It has the feel and look of being in Key West. These cottages are owned and/or rented. Not being sure what has brought on this recent activity, discouraging changes are happening in this section. Before we arrived in September, 11 cottages had been moved out and relocated to another RV park. Currently, the same process is in the works again. We have seen 6 cottages prepped and are ready to be removed. I think that major task might start
in the very near future (any day now). We will surely be there to watch. It is quite a job to do all this. I’ll take pictures for you.
Upon our return here at Tropical Palms in September, Cory discovered coolant had leaked out of our RV. When he started the engine, the idiot light told him we had low coolant and then shut off. Good Grief, Charlie Brown. Since this is part of the chassis, he had the repairman (Jason) who fixed our air bag system come back for this issue. The way everything is put together in a motor home is totally baffling. Wires and pipes run all over the place in a million different directions. For this dilemma, Jason had to open a hidden hatch door on our bedroom floor. Lulu was Johnny-on-the-spot to help him for this part. She is such a willing helper. No wonder she’s loved so much. Working from the back of the coach and through the hole in our bedroom floor, Jason found a broken clamp that allowed the coolant to leak out. He replaced this as well as some hoses and we are back in business. We are fortunate to
have such skilled mechanics that will come to our site so we don’t have to drive, or worst yet, get towed to their business. We have insurance for towing but that’s the last thing you want to do. Whew!
Update on my new knee: it’s great! So much better than my old and painful one. I’m really happy how it all went. So happy that I’m going to have my other painful knee done on January 11, 2021. Yup...you will be seeing it all over again....Déjà Vu! Luckeeeeee! I told you not to forget your nursing skills you used with me on knee #1. Brush up on them if you forgot anything. I will need you in your best form. I am still going to physical therapy twice a week. My favorite part is at the end when they ice my knee for 10 minutes. Refreshing and relaxing....my style. I think I told you the rehab is at the Celebration Hospital where I had my surgery. It is all very convenient. I have to say I have never exercised this much in my life except when I used to take mega walks with Chip and cross country skiing with
Dino (our dog before Chip). I never went to a gym and worked out. Now I’m warming up, stretching my legs and hoping from one machine to another plus other strenuous moves to strengthen and build up my leg and hip muscles. I could probably really stomp someone badly with my strong legs. Sadly, I may be more muscular but the fat hadn’t moved at all. It’s all still there plus some. How disappointing. I have three more sessions of PT to go for knee #1.........only to resume the same routine a few weeks after my next surgery. I’ll be like a permanent fixture in the rehab center. Richard Simmons would be proud.
I think I’ve brought you pretty much up to date. We are going to participate in a Christmas golf cart parade tomorrow night or Christmas Eve....weather depending.
Cory and I and, of course, Lulu, want to wish each one of you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. P.S. Scroll for the 15 pictures. ??
