Day 7 May 10, 2013

Chris and I rode the Motorcycle to the Publix grocery store on the top of the island to get groceries at a price that wouldn’t bankrupt us. We were limited by the amount of space on my motorcycle, but we managed to fit everything, including a case of beer for Joe, and a Styrofoam cooler, which Chris had to carry on her lap, what a sight.

We had breakfast at La Creperie, not too pricy and the omelets were pretty good. After breakfast Joe rented a bicycle to go to the beach and Chris and I Walked 5 blocks to the Hemingway House for the tour. It was fascinating, Hemingway was quite a character.

We went back to the condo to cool off (today it is really hot). Then Chris and I rode the motorcycle to the airport to rent a car so we can go to the Hog Fish grill on Stock Island and Everglades National park tomorrow. The Hog fish grill was great; it is a one of the Key’s hidden gems. It is located in an industrial section of Stock Island on the water next to a marina. They have tables on the dock and it looks like a red-neck bar (which it probably is). Apparently, only the locals know about it, because they are way off the beaten path (you need a car to get there) and they don’t advertise. The food was delicious and was relatively inexpensive. When I got the keys to the condo, I asked the realtor where he would eat if he was only going to have one dinner in Key West. He told me to go to the Hog Fish grill and try the hog fish. He said the fish is a local fish that is really dumb but delicious. I tried it and it was delicious,

After dinner, Joe went to Duval Street and Chris & I went back to the condo and drank.
