Key West In May !

In May of 2007 i took a 3 week trip traveling from my North Carolina home to the Florida Keys and Keywest . This was the most beautiful drive along the coast ! The water is as blue as any i have ever seen. The marsh and sand bars that can be seen along the drive is outstanding ! This is a paradise for all types of water sports and seems to be in a world all it's own ! The sands are white and the sun bathing plenty ! May i highly suggest if doing any water activties that you check into a tour with one of the many water tour companies in the area . Shop around for the best price as each tour offers something different in the way of activities and meals . I went on a fantastic tour with Sabego Tours at the amazing low cost of $ 119.00 for a 6 hour tour on a Katamaran , with a fantastic shrimp catered lunch , water trampoline , wave runners , snorkeling the reef , and bananna boat rides ! Plus we got feed on the return trip ! This also includes the mixed drinks and beer ! Ater the activities are over of course and only durning the trip back ! The crew is so nice and instructions are provided , plus all the equipment ! When you feel you have spent enough time basking in the sun and sand you can head down to duval street where there are plenty of side walk cafe's and dance clubs along small winding streets ! There you will find what ever your heart desires to please your taste buds ! Come with an open mind , as you must share this place and it's ambiance with some way out trends of the likes you have ever seen ! Day time on duval street is more for the family , as night time takes on a whole different type clientel ! Shopping is in abundance and to that i must tell you to bring every credit card you have lol ! you will pay out the nose for what catches your fancy LOL ! Duval street does not close untill 4AM ...so if you are into the night life ...LOL ..... watch how much $$$ you pay for your room , as you may not get to spend much time in it ! Lodging is plenty there , with very little camping , so hotels are your best bet ! There are some beautiful campgrounds along the coast in the keys , but the nearst one to key west is about 30 miles . If you happen to be retired military or active duty , there is a base at the very end of duval street that offers 2 story condo type rooms overlooking the ocean for about $ 65.00 a night !! The residents of this area fall into three different type categories .... The old timers , The local strange , The tourist . Most people are nice but there are a few you may want to ignore lol ! This is a beautiful area for fishing , water sports , shopping , dinning and dancing , and spending large sums of money !!!!

This is a shot about 30 miles from Key West . What a drive !!!!! It looks like this on both sides of you ! There are a few small islands along the drive that are just fantastic to behold !

The Loreli Stop Off !
This was shot from the deck of the Loreli Restraunt in Key Largo , during the sunset, where we stopped to have dinner and watch what i have heard and seen ...one of the most goregus sunsets in the united states . The sun as setting took on a bright orange glow , tho my picture does not display it very well ..... missed this shot with my 35mm cannon , so was snapped with my digital . I havent stopped kicking myself for this big boo boo yet ! It was truly a beautiful orange sunset and the food was FANTASTIC ! There was a local guitar player playing some really soft island music while we dined !

Parasailing At In The Keys !

Coral Reef Of The Keys !
This shot was taken with a digital camera in a underwater camera bag . Taken while snorkeling the coral reserve with Sabeago Tours . The water was as clear as drinking water and with a bright bluse huge that will make you stand in awweee !

Ready To Hit The Reef !
This was snapped right before our arrival on the reef reserve for our hour long snorkeling adventure part of our day with Sebeago Tour Group . The water was so nice and cool , and amazed me as the sun is beating down some pretty strong rays on this whole area !
