All Aboard....our ship is in dock and ready for us to board. The fantastic voyage has begun. I hope you have your life jackets on and are ready to go with us on this latest, unbelievable adventure. We are going to have such fun. My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean -- My Bonnies arrived at Port Lauderdale around 1:00 PM. Boarding went smoothly and then the "shock and awe" hit. The Royal Caribbean cruise ship, the Oasis of the Seas, is the largest ship in the world. And it is absolutely out of this world!! My skimpy little words will never be able to show you the grandeur of this palatial vessel. We entered into an enormous area that looked like the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz. Beyond beautiful and beyond words. Everything here is so opulent and gorgeous. It was more than what I could take in....my eyes and head were spinning like a motorized top. We made our way onto the glass elevators and down the attractive, long hallway to the aft of the ship on the 14th floor to our staterooms.....OMG - you have to see our breath-taking view! I can see the edge of the
world! We have balcony rooms overlooking the ocean. I now know why Christopher Columbus was nervous looking at the horizon: it's flat! Our room is cozy & charming and the bed is the ultimate "heavenly bed".... it envelops you like a cocoon. I hope I don't get sick on the cruise but if I do and have to stay in this pluffy bed....I can take it. Sam & Sandy are right next door to us - we can have adjoining rooms as well as an open balcony all the way across both rooms. What a way to relax and begin the cruise: sitting on the balcony, sipping some wine, toasting our wonderful friendship and watching the world pass by. Oh, Glory Days! Our first excursion took us to the Windjammer Cafe for one of their delicious buffets. This buffet made all our casino buffets look like ration lines. Gorged, we were guided into a lounge for a mandatory safety drill. After a few more buffets, the life jacket will never fit me! I should be able to float like a whale though. Next, we strolled through huge, various unique & awesome venues of this magnificent boat. Central Park is alive
with greenery and lights and quaint eateries. The Boardwalk has a huge carousel and a carnival style atmosphere. Overhead is a Zip Line.....which will not be one of my choices....nor Little Lulu's. At the back of the boat is an huge outdoor theater where certain shows are performed. The Promenade takes you past many shops and more eateries....all in splendid style. I've never said "Oooooooo & Aaaaaahhh" so many times....even more than when I see beautiful Christmas lights. It is good we are sailing for a week because I think it will take us that long to see it all. And maybe we can't even do it in that time frame. We have already walked a million miles and have only seen a part of this ship. Dinner time arrived and we made our way to the formal dining room. We sit together at an assigned, elegant table with an assigned staff. They wait on us hand and foot.....my dream has come true.....I am loving this a lot .... I really mean A LOT and I never want it to end. The menu is eye blurring and the choices; far too many. Can't decide on a dessert? No prob......They will
bring you as many as you want. Want 2.....ah, go ahead..make it 4! This is the part that makes me anxious. I started the cruise with extra tonnage anyway and I foresee I will end in a state of total morbid obesity. I tried taking the stairs with Sandy instead of the elevator but by the time I made it to the 14th floor (stateroom floor), I was waiting for my throbbing heart to flop out of my chest so I could squeeze it to keep it pumping. Going down isn't too bad but I will have to work on that stress test climb .... maybe I can lose weight and gain strength pulling on the one-arm bandit in the casino. I prefer doing that than the Mt.Everest climb. Cory is dancing his happy dance: they have a crap table! Winning! Even though our new floating world offered so many tempting bars and nightclubs, the heavenly bed had a bigger pull ...... exhaustion had set in. Sleep was instantaneous with the soothing music of the rippling waves outside our room. Have I died or what is this heaven I am in? As you can see, Little Lulu has stuck right
Lulu watching another Cruise Ship
Checking out the watery view from our balcony. with us, never missing a chance for a photo shot. Lulu loves cruising! And so do we! Stay afloat with us......
