Bhutan: Land of the Thunder Dragon was the theme of the 2008 Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Every summer, the Smithsonian Institution sponsors the festival on the National Mall to explore the culture and traditions of one country and one US state. The country featured this year was Bhutan. "The man's gho is a one-piece costume rather like a kimono with broad white cuffs". The woman wears a kira costume. "A kira is wrapped around the body and secured at the shoulders by a pair of silver clasps called kama and at the waist by a tight belt, a keyra. A wonju (an inner blouse with long sleeves) and a tyoko (an outer jacket) complete a woman's outfit". P1040955
