The White House
Pretty impressive So apparently I'm already bad at updating, haha. There's been a lot going on though so I haven't really taken the time to sit with the computer lately. Let's see where to start...
A week ago was registration, which was good since I finally got my Student ID card and can now easily get my meals without having to fight with the cashier. It looks really fancy too 😊 After registration, I went to San Diego airport to fly out to Washington D.C. for the weekend. It was a night flight, which meant I got to first NYC in the early AM before taking the second flight to DC. The east coast was definitely colder than California, but it was really good to see my parents again! Washington was one big blur of walking, museums, more walking, eating, police everywhere and lots of history. I quite liked it though, our hotel was literally around the corner from the White House, so it couldn't have been in a better location. It was cool to finally see all those places I've only seen in movies before (standing at Lincoln Memorial made me want to watch Forrest Gump!), so I'm glad I managed

Abraham Lincoln sitting on his chair to go there.
The trip home was a bit of a disaster, however. I was gonna fly out of D.C. at 7 pm to go to Dallas, TX, and then on a connecting flight to San Diego from there. However, the Dallas flight was delayed and I missed my connection, meaning I was stuck in Dallas for the night. Luckily they put me in a nice hotel room and gave me food vouchers, but it also meant I would be late for orientation at school Monday morning. Not a great impression to make...
Turns out I missed orientation completely in the end, but I managed to get a hold of the information anyway. They have a pretty complicated system when you try to choose classes here called "crashing", which basically means you have to go to the first class, talk to the professor and hope there's an open spot and that you're lucky. If you're not, you're just gonna have to go to another class and hope that one has an open seat. Stupid system, but that's America for you. I've crashed two classes so far and got the first one. The second one I'll find out on
Airplanes
There were so many museums to go to, this was at the National Air & Space Museum Tuesday if I got or not, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Otherwise there's been quite a lot going on. There was a city bus tour, a poetry slam, Welcome Madness, Winter Wonderland, a big birthday dinner... plenty of fun things happening and I've hung out a lot with the people living on my floor. They're all really nice which is awesome, and my room mate seems really sweet. I think I was lucky! I met some other cool people as well whom I've been hanging out with, and today I'm going to Pacific Beach with one of them. Will be awesome!
See you guys later! 😊
