Street where I lived during the first week.
During the first week, I stayed in the apartment Iris's family had rented for 2 weeks. It was an old house located in Dupont circle in the center of D.C. According to the landlord, it had once been the home of Charles Curtis, vice president under Herbert Hoover in the early 30's.

After Iris's parents had left, we moved to the suburbs of Washington D.C., where Iris and I could be hosted at Kent's and Iris's (another one) house in Hammond Wood, Silver Spring. They were very nice, and we felt at home immediately, and they introduced us to the whole neighborhood, and the life of this little community, chopping wood, football Sundays etc...Turns out one of the neighbors had a whole independent apartment in their basement. We didn’t think too much before moving in.
