Well - here we go with the home state again. And once again this will be a complete and total 100% food blog. So if you want to come to the state of Connecticut (especially down to the southern part) and like food then this is the blog for you. We do travel around the state when we are not flying all over the place because we really do love this state with its coastline, interior - it has a lot to offer. One such quick trip for us was a trip up to OLD LYME. As always it was just a quick overnight trip. We left Stamford on a Friday afternoon, battled the traffic and made it up there 2 hours later. We made a last minute booking at the BEE AND THISTLE INN and ... read more

Geo: 41.0516, -73.5423Weather 80s and sunny We left the great city of Boston today with plenty of sunshine. We set off for Plymouth and Cape Cod only to realize it is Saturday. Everyone appears to go to Cape Cod on a sunny weekend. We decided against it since it would be more than an hour off of our route already. We rerouted to Rhode Island, specifically New Port to the Cliff Walk. We were taking a chance on a suggestion from one of Paul's clients. It was an hour to the coast off-route to Connecticut but that is ok because we just have the road ahead of us. We stopped at the Capital of RI first. Took a peek and on our way.New Port is at the bottom of RI across two bridges and is the ... read more

Well - it has been a while since I have done a Connecticut entry so I guess it is time. So here we go. Be warned - this is ALL about food (mostly - there is some towns and other things in here as well) and where to eat and not to eat when visiting. There's a couple other things thrown in the mix, but this particular blog mostly is a food blog since we love food and we have found some really nice places here in CT. So let's go and get you going on your food journey. We will start with our home town - Stamford. I'll start off with - we don't do chains so if you are expecting to read about Chili's and Outback here then this is the wrong spot for ... read more

So it all happened very quickly. The one moment we were New Mexicans and the next thing you know we had both taken jobs across the country in Stamford, CT. There's many reasons for our move, but one of the many reasons were the possibility to be able to travel more easily and see more things over weekend trips or take a long weekend and fly to Europe. So hopefully we'll be able to post some more "international" blogs from now on forward. Well Connecticut was kind of brand new to both of us. We have never been there before, we never went there before driving out and we really had no clue what we were getting ourselves into (so we packed our belongings in a U-Haul truck and drove cross country and within the first ... read more

Getting ready for an adventure is a very exciting process. Packing, I believe, is an art form. My gadget/wires bag has gotten bigger, but my pictures have gotten better. Cross my fingers no late night or even worse, morning of, packing.... read more

After hearing me talk about this trip for the last 6 months, I'm finally leaving today. The last few weeks have been both fun and hectic as I tried to spend time with friends and also reduce my life's belongings down to a single backpack. I spent Labor Day week up at Cape Cod with my friends Steven and Gina Gauthier from New Hampshire. We had an awesome time relaxing on the beach, looking for sea shells and biking around town and on some pretty bike paths. Gina got up early one morning and took this beautiful sunrise shot. She's an amazing photographer. I wish I could bring her along on my trip to document it for me. :) Unfortunately I wasn't organized enough to take pictures when I had all my "goodbye" dinners, but I ... read more

12Aug07 - Rode from Stamford to Providence (Airport) As I packing up my motorbike infront of the Westin (Diehard) Hotel, I chatted with two grannys sitting on bench waiting for their ride. They gave me suggestions on where to visit when I ride to Cape Cod since there are return there from a shopping trip in New York City. Then the converstation got wierd: Granny1: "Say, you quite tall and handsome" Granny2: "Mmm Hmm" Me: "Uh, thanks, that's very nice of you" Granny1: "Yes, tall, young and strappin'" Granny2: "Mmm Hmm" Me: {Ewh!, Must pack faster!!!} Granny1: "You should meet my grand daugther, I think she be quite interested in a fella like you" Granny2: "Mmmm" Me: "Or really, that's very thoughtful of you" {Must Get out Of Here Now!} Granny1: "Oh, there they are now" ... read more

Ann here -- the title for this entry about sums the weekend up. Mary, Katherine, and I went to the Westchester Mall in White Plains, NY yesterday to do a bit more shopping ('cuz 5 days in NYC wasn't enough ;) ). Anyway, the mall is huge and beautiful. It's much like the Roseville Galleria back home... but, about 3 times bigger... and the shops are like many of the ones you would see in NYC (Tiffany & Co., Dooney & Bouke, Gucci, etc). The shops in NYC tend to be crowded and in disarray... except for some of the high-end shops we went in with Mary (Saks, Cole Haan, etc)... it was nice to shop in a more quiet setting. As my mom called it in one of her blog comments... Phil & Mary ... read more

Ann here -- a trip would not be complete without losing something... lost my cell phone on the train somewhere between here and Manhattan on the evening of the 4th (after the fireworks)... I've had the "pleasure" of learning how the lost and found works... actually, Phil and Mary knew (from experience) how it worked... everything that's left on the train is boxed up and sent to Grand Central Terminal. I reported it missing on the morning of the 5th... Phil is going to be the Dear brother that he is and attempt to find it next week in the box of cell phones at Grand Central... 1 in x shot of finding it, but we're feeling pretty lucky since the whole Rush ticket thing. So, the point of this blog entry is to let you ... read more
