Hi, people still potentially following me!

I just got AMAZING news today. I'm about to embark on my newest adventure!! Since I came back from Africa I've attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and am in the process of student teaching in a fifth grade classroom. I will get my Colorado K-6 teaching license this summer.

I wanted to take a year off after college (like I did after high school), but I wanted to see if I could make some money doing it. I researched a bunch of stuff online and found this great program called the Central European Teaching Program (CETP). After an EXTENSIVE application process, I skyped with the head of the program to choose schools last night! She told me that I would be making a Hungarian teacher's salary as a conversational English specialist. I would essentially work 22 hours per week moving around to classrooms in grades 1-4 teaching conversational English. This included free housing near Budapest.

Then something incredible happened. She e-mailed me the next day and told me about another opportunity that will be open to me as a state-licensed teacher. I have the opportunity to work in a privately-funded bilingual school in a 1st or 2nd grade classroom teaching all subjects. There would be a Hungarian teacher with me teaching the same subject material in Hungarian, so that the kids get a taste for both. The housing that is still free with the job is apparently amazing, AND I get paid double what I would as a conversational English specialist!! Plus I will be utilizing my skills as an elementary school teacher.

This is basically the best thing I could ask for. My orientation begins on August 23rd, and I return home either for Christmas or June 20, 2014.

Time to learn Hungarian!!
