Leaving GlendoraLeaving GlendoraLeaving Glendora

The girls were almost as excited as we were, they kept getting in the way while we loaded the car!!

DAY ONE:
Okay, the time was 1:42pm - Elvis FINALLY left the building. This is where our road trip began. Now, before all of you ask us why we got such a “late” start, let us remind you that neither of us is on any sort of time schedule, at least not one that is as austere and regimented as we apparently led y’all to believe. Between Beth’s three finals on Monday and a last minute paper due my midnight (turned in at 11:51p.m.) and Kathryn getting so ill that some were speculating that perhaps the bubonic plague was making an ill-timed comeback.

The Group (subsequently will be referred to as “The Girls”) decided that we would leave whenever the mood struck. The mood struck at 1:42 pm. Well, that’s when we left Beth’s driveway… We had a few errands to run, so technically, our first stop was at the U-Haul in Azusa. With a quick jaunt to the Wamu in Glendora, a brief neighborhood detour (we’re not lost… we wanted to make sure that we said goodbye to ALL of Glendora) and then an invigorating bath for ALL of us at the La Verne puppy scrub (we’re

happy to report that everyone survived, somewhat surprisingly), we were sure to hit the road soon. Well - after our baths, Kathryn and Beth needed sustenance, so the McDonald’s in La Verne was gracious enough to provide us diet coke and some yummy fries…

THEN we hit the road. Our goal: Williams, Arizona. We stopped for gas in Ludlow - happening place. Really. We crossed the Arizona border just before 8 p.m. - it was 97°!?! Kathryn drove through (Beth watched very calmly) one of the MOST spectacular storms any of us had seen in a long time, if ever. The lightening was so intense that we had to close the shade to the sunroof to eliminate the weird flashbulb effects that were COMPLETELY illuminating the interior of the car.

We finally arrived in Williams about 10:30 p.m. - checked into the cozy-sounding Mountain-Side Inn and discovered Hey! Not so cozy… We highly recommend you AVOID that place. Besides, even the dogs didn’t like it… They REFUSED to pee on pine needles…City Girls. There was internet access, however, it was NOT accessible, hence the delay in the blog. We apologize for this inconvenience and we promise to do

Wish we were with you!
OK. who is having more fun? The "girls", or the girls. I guess it is best if y'all enjoy the trip together. We will look forward to the daily updates as your trip unfolds. Mom said to make sure you use plenty of sunscreen when going to the lake.

Thanks!
That's "thanks" for adding me to your list of addressees, Katherine. I'm excited for you guys and the fun your having. This is a neat way to share with friends...in real time, almost! Looking forward to more.
