We’ve spent the last week or so between Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks and Yosemite NP in the high Sierra in California. Today is May 23rd , this is our 4th day at Yosemite. The weather has been perfect…sunny blue skies, 70’s during the day and 40’s at night. Well it did get to 34 last at night at our campsite but it’s right by the river and a little cooler…. by 9 am it was already up to 64 degrees! We really liked Kings Canyon… we practically had it to ourselves and probably our favorite campsite so far. Yosemite is much more crowded….we’re talking busloads of Japanese and French tourists…they seem to love it out west but you can still find solitude and get away from the crowds. And Yosemite has THE VALLEY…it’s indescribable! The Sequoia trees are an amazing sight, some of them are over 2,000 years old…the oldest and biggest are all scarred and gnarly but imagine what they’ve been thru over that period of time.

We’ve been out of phone contact, or TV or news of any kind for over the last week but we did manage to get one call into Kelly. Don’t worry Sara, the old folks are going to bed early and having a ball. We’re just kind of relaxing down in the valley, riding bikes, doing some laundry…we’re having lunch at this little café at Yosemite lodge and found they have Wi-Fi in the lobby so here we are.

Tomorrow we leave for Napa Valley for a few days…a little change of pace…..I’ve got a feeling we’re going to be lugging some wine out of there…then it’s on to No Cal Coastal redwood area then on to the Oregon coast. Kelly, Shawn and Grace are joining us for a week in Oregon…..can’t wait to see that little granddaughter again!!!

Ya’ll take care….we’ll do this again when we can. You can make the pictures a little bigger if you double click on them.

Hey Chuck and Patty. Great pics as usual. I've saved some of them so now I can save all that money for a trip out there!! Some of that cool wx would be nice here. I been lucky enough to have seen both those parks and I know how much you liked them. The absolute most stars I've ever seen was in Yosemite at night. That camp site is to die for. Good to hear from you and safe travels. Dave and Pam
