DAY 17
Monterey, Pacific Grove, Moss Landing, Santa Cruz to Fairfield to Mt. Shasta City
“Love Him in the mornin’ when you see the sun a’risin’
Love Him in the evenin’ ‘cause he took you through the day
And in the in between time when you feel the pressure comin’
Remember that he loves you and he promises to stay”
God is so loving and beautiful and patient. So why is it so easy for me to be selfish and to forget that He’s leading me and God knows best?! I’d like to get out of his way more so I could hear the Holy Spirit better and love and trust Christ Jesus more and more. The on-going process of life - learning to die to myself and live more fully for my Lord and Savior. Thank you, God, for being with us so faithfully!
The funny thing about kids going to bed early, 2 out of 3 of mine, get up even earlier. So I had Mary, Kai, and I ready for a walk before 6:30am. Much to my surprise I stepped out of the RV and what blinking lights do I see flashing before me,
“MCDONALDS!” my children cry. Oh what delight, yes, children, McDonalds. The walk was a lot shorter than we thought it’d be.
We found Lover’s Point in Pacific Grove and climbed all over rocks. Saw lots of birds and shells but no sea otters. Our next stop was a quick one to Moss Landing. It was looking like a wrong turn - tight road with lots of surfers and a hike to the ocean - but there’s no wrong turns in life, right? - lots of lessons to learn! We stopped in a little parking area and there they were - SEA OTTERS!!! Tons of them and what’s that funny honking??? Oh look, SEA LIONS!! Laying, lazily on a dock. Pretty fun to watch all of them playing and hanging out in nature. Then it was off to Santa Cruz. They charged a buck an hour for metered parking and of course we took up two stalls and we ran out of change fast. So with barely an hour of parking paid for we made the most of it! Found some sand dollars on the shore, chased more waves, heard more sea lions off in the distance. It’s been so

Sea Otters at Moss Landing
we finally found some not in cagesfun watching the sheer joy in the kids as they’re chased by the water and playing in sand. J. and I even saw a dolphin dive out of the water! (at least we’re calling it a dolphin!?!) Jaedon renamed Santa Cruz “Sandy” Cruz. The beach stretches on and on! And we had fun sharing corn dogs and cotton candy before we wrapped up our quick hour visit. Then we were off to find I-5 North. Goodbye beautiful ocean and blue sky! We heard from friends that Spokane is expecting 10 more inches of snow. School for Monday is already cancelled because roofs need to be inspected and parking lots cleared. Wow! It’ll be crazy to get back home to all that snow! Thanks, Mike and Bart for all your help with our house!
On our way to find I-5 we had to make one more stop in Fairfield, CA. After a couple of turn arounds we found it - the JELLY BELLY factory! It was 3:38pm and tours end at 4pm - let’s go, kids! What a treat it was! Great tour, lots of yummy samples and fun sugary treats to buy!
A fill up with gas for
Spirit and fill up with dinner for hungry tummies and we were off with Moe behind the wheel. LOOK OUT! Geoff rested with the kids and watched more Daniel Boone and I was able to drive us to another favorite stop, Mt. Shasta City. Thank you, dear Lord, for our safety!
