Bella hugs
Bella and I getting our huggin' on before dinner. The other day when I was at work and I suddenly had the urge to go camping. I haven't been since Rainbow and it struck me pretty strong. So I delivered whatever drinks I had in my hand and set out to find Phoenix, who also works there, to tell her. I only had to walk a few steps, which was perfect, and told her I want to go. She immediately said "YES! Lets go tomorrow!" which was the absolute best answer ever...so we did. After we worked our brunch shift the next day, Sunday, we packed up and headed about 25 minutes away, up hwy 1, near Pascadero.
We found this perfect spot! It was one of those camp-next-to-your-car kind of places, but we hiked down a little bit and found a clearing near these big ol trees and set up there. We set up the tent quick, then got our din din ready. It was SO yummy! We bought a chicken on the way and had about four half filled bottles of wine, some cheese, crackers, and vanilla wafers. There was this beautiful fallen log next to our camp that we sat in...which you could tell someone used
Our dinner guest
A little newt hanging out with us for dinner and wine. as a shelter before.
Oh and while we were enjoying our dinner and watching the sky get darker and darker, we pretended we were in a themed restaurant that had a natural ambiance. It was great, haha! Both of us being servers, we love to take on roles of a guest and customer...like...all the time. Pouring wine, making food, all that. We play a lot. Anyway, we noticed we had an audience at one point! A little newt! It was totally cute, he was hiding next to a wine bottle and slowly backed away when we started to pay him attention.
After we ate and it started to get really dark, and Bella was freaking out a bit...which made us two ladies a little freaked...we packed up our food stuffs and went to the tent. We contemplated the existence of bears that would come and eat our food and possibly us, but figured there would be tons of signs up at the park if that was a real danger. HA!
About an hour into tent chilling and sipping some wine, we started to hear rustling outside of our tent. We were like "what is that??" and then
Phoenix and bella
A peek form the inside of the tent more. And then we started to get freaked out because it was obviously near us. Then SUDDENLY whatever it was grabs the bags of food right next to the tent, under the weather shield!!! And we start screaming. and laughing. and screaming. I swear I was ready to see a bear head or a cougar poke its face in our tent and start eating us. I felt so trapped! Then it came back again a few seconds later and grabbed another bag!
So we started making loud growling noises and shaking the tent to try and scare it off. HAHA! It was ridiculous! Between laughing and being hella scared. I determined that we HAD to take the rest of the food up to the car, because if not MORE animals may come by...and maybe more dangerous ones! So we prepared ourselves for battle. Her dog Bella didn't even stir from sleep the whole time...
I grabbed an empty wine bottle and she grabbed the food bags. We started out with some more growling and tent shaking before we climbed out into the darkness. Basically back to back, we growled our way up to the car putting out as
Our beautiful camp
The trees are so incredible... much aggressive beastly energy as we could. We were trying to set up an energetic perimeter to ward them off. Then when we made our way back to the tent we stayed outside growling. THEN we saw eyes. Lots of them. And it freaked us the hell out...so we growled more (among laughing)...and proclaimed very seriously how we would EAT them if they came near us again.
So we climbed back into the tent feeling a bit more strong and zipped ourselves in for the night. But not without trying to take some pictures of the beasts...we stuck the camera out the door and flashed shots without looking. We got nothing.
We had to growl and shake the tent a couple more times in the night, but we stayed safe. The next morning the car had footprints all over it...Raccoon footprints. So I'm assuming our attackers were really REALLY big raccoons. Hahaha!
We decided to head home that morning and stopped in Pascedero for lunch and fun pictures of course. Then headed back down the one, stopping to pick up some beach rocks for one of the roommates turtle tank. The fog rolled in, as it tends
