Azza and Andreas
Post shower food yum Spontaneity is the key to that feeling of freedom, me thinks!
This past Sunday, the lady Phoenix and I decided to road trip with our friends, Annette and Azza, back to Arcata, increasing our magical time spent with them aphond also avoiding a long hitchhike back for them (which I'm sure they would have loved, honestly). So from Santa Cruz to Arcata we went. We took Highway 1 all the way up, which of course is always a beautiful route. The plan was also to meet up with some other wonderful friends - Andreas and Julie.
It took a while to get up there it seemed, but eventually we arrived at the sacred Team Jazz casa. Much merry making commenced - and there was food and I'm sure a little dancing...but quickly there was sleep since it was so late. The next day went SO quickly! But Phoenix and I made some seriously yummy food for the house - Breakfast was fruit salad, yogurt, cheese, and granola. Dinner was a very tasty veggie stirfry/soup/medly. I was mostly the chopper, and the instigator of a minor food fight with said chopped veggies. It seemed like the days "real" activities centered
Breakfast!
Post Yoga fruit yum buffet around making and eating food. But the rest of the day was spent playing music, laughing, and lovin' on each other. It was a beautiful reunion of our Rainbow Tribe!
Yesterday (Tuesday) morning we all woke up and made our way to the living room. Some wonderful chanting music was playing and we all fell into meditation and Yoga. Eventually Azza lead us all through a beautiful session. There's something very liberating about being lightly dressed, or even with no clothes...so by the middle of the session I had gotten down to only my PJ pants. Good stuff good stuff. It's so nice to feel safe enough to do that with your friends.
Then we finally made our way to the Redwoods. Driving up during the night, I actually could feel the energy of the trees surrounding me. It was really intense and made it relatively difficult to drive! I've actually never been in the Redwoods before, so as can be imagined...I was blown away. The size of these trees make me gawk and wonder how old they really are. Some were still standing tall, reaching for the canopy, straight up from the Earth. Some were seemingly alive

Talking about his new trunk-fort-home. still, even though the center of them had rotted out- leaving some excellent fort and living spaces available.
Of course we had to go off the trail here and there to get to the trees we wanted to touch. We bounced on a live bridge, which is an exhilarating feeling of almost flying as you slowly wobble up and down as the fallen tree trunk bends under your weight. We climbed up huge stumps and looked down long hollow logs.
Then, inspired, Phoenix requested that Team Jazz (Annette and Azza) use their Minister-ness and marry her. She found the absolutely perfect alter of fallen redwood and invited us all to be guests to her self-marriage. We gathered around and spread an abundance of loving light and energy over her and had the most beautiful wedding ceremony where Phoenix pledged to always love herself and all aspects of her. We all put her jewelery back on her with a blessing from each of us. Then as only I've felt able to do with these people...we made some bad ass music. Just by our souls and bodies (even though my guitar was around somewhere). We celebrated and performed the most
funked out version of "here comes the bride" ever...though not with those lyrics or tune. It was beautiful.
As we walked out of the Redwoods we beamed with happiness, as always. I took a slight spill at one point while doing some X-tream walking, and my guitar took most of the damage. She got chipped in a couple of places, but it's A-OK because it needed a little more character.
To celebrate Phoenix' marriage, we decided to have home-made sushi! We split up into teams and while Phoenix and I went home and waited, the rest of the crew headed to the store to get the goods. And it WAAAASSS good!
Just like every meal, we sat in the living room on our little cushions and around the table. We laughed and smiled and Mmmmmm'd for a while. Totally stuffed! Then had some yummy cookies and cream ice cream (with dried strawberries on top, which I've determined should just automatically come with that ice cream).
Eventually it was clean-up and off to bed! Phoenix and I had to make it back to Santa Cruz to get the work thing going. And we made it in time!
