So, today was our day off after two full days of walking to 1875 homes across San Diego. So what do we do after walking for six hours each day? Go to the San Diego Zoo where you walk everywhere! Even though we're a bunch of college kids, we were definitely excited to go to the San Diego Zoo today. We met up with David Lachut's sister at the zoo, so she got to come with us and was gracious enough to get us discounted tickets! One of the great things about our tickets is that they included the bus tour and the skyrail. The bus tour was actually on a double-decker bus where you got to see most of the zoo animals without walking around. It was absolutely amazing to see the creatures that God created, especially when you don't get to see them every day. We got to see polar bears playing around and monkeys fight and try to reach out to us (the monkeys were Chris's favorite exhibit). We spent probably 4 hours at the zoo, then we were all so tired from walking around (again) that we decided to go ahead and leave. Lachut's sister, Christina, invited us to come out to her house for dinner, so we headed out to her house. Luckily, she lives about 15 minutes walking away from the Pacific Ocean, so we all went to the beach and most of us got to experience the Pacific Ocean for the first time!! Just a side note, the Pacific Ocean is COLD!!! Most of us got our feet wet, then sat back in the sand and napped for a few minutes. We definitely took the typical beach pictures: jumping, holding hands while walking, silhouettes...etc, etc. Christina loves photography and hopes to make it a career someday, so she took care of all the photography for us. After spending some time at the ocean, we went back to Christina's house where she and her husband had cooked an AMAZING meal for us: ribs, macaroni salad, pork and beans, and an amazing dirt dessert. We also watched Enchanted and played Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which was just a great time for everyone. The boys even admitted to liking Enchanted (we knew they would). After a great day of relaxing, we all came back, got in the hot tub for a few minutes, then taught Holly how to play Spades. We had a great day off; it was a great way to rejuvenate for our last day. Tomorrow we'll be going to a local college campus. Please pray that God moves in the lives of the people that He brings to CrossChurch. I have to go to bed now to get up in the morning.
