Down the coast from both LA and the OC, (about 2.5 hours drive from LA) and only about half an hour outside of Mexico, is San Diego.

We loved San Diego - imagine Sydney surrounded by the Harbour etc, but there are Mexican influences everywhere - in all of the buildings plus as we are now very familiar with, the Mexican food.
