The Nala Report
Sorry to disapoint you, but Nala matches Turner pound for pound on the cuteness scale. She's not quite so in tune with the shares market, but I'm building her up to that, and by the end of the week she'll be surfing Sophia like Kelly Slater. Oh, and Turner, FYI, she can roll over from her back to her stomach unassisted. Crankin out the milestones is Nala. She's only thrown up on me about 5 times too. I think that means she likes me.
Cruisin in SD
Shalyse and Dan hooked me up with a sweet set of wheels. The dodge mini-van. It's done more miles than John Wayne, and is probably in about the same state of health.
Anyway - it's about on a par with 'The Bird' I drove in NZ last year. It's big enough to hold me and me surfboard and so far has started 1st time everytime and only makes the clunking noises when you're actually driving along, so I think it's ok.
So, my routine is to get up anywhere between 6am and 7am. Don't worry I'm not sick - just holding off on the jet lag. Then, I
The wagon & Sophia
My favourite wheels - for riding i8 west and the waves... head to the beach to catch some waves before the wind turns onshore. So far I've scored some sweet waves at a couple of renowned spots - "ankle slappers" and "flaccid point" - yeah, unfortunately the surf has definitely been somewhat flappy to amorous (thanks PJ).
Food in SD
Today we ate sushi. Well, Shalyise and I did. Nala, just went with the usual, then shat it out all over her pram. Nice. (You're welcome). In fact, it was all you can eat buffet sushi. AKA - "and I'd like a diet coke with that." Yeah, good luck with
that diet Misses. The place was called wok smugglers - of course it wasn't but it should've been, it was full of em.
They do this deal on prices for children - under 5ft eat for $6, under 4ft eat for $4 etc etc. I think they should do the same for the salad dodgers. Waist size under 30" eat half price. Of couse no one would qualify, so it would be pointless. Perhaps that's not one of my better ideas.
Actually, Shalyse does have a great idea. To all those 3 handed moms (mums) out there.
Random Medallion Winnebago Man
This guy could talk like Joan Rivers on crack. Well, of course you wish you had 3 hands. You know you get those baby seats that you can carry and then clip in and out of the car (yeah..., cool...) well Shalyse would like to patent one that has retractable wheels on it, and an extendable handle - kind of like a hostess' travel bag. Those things are heavy, so I think she has a point. You read it here first people. It'll be in the stores next summer.
Random RV Dude
So we walk past this guy's house who has the mother of RVs on his drive. Not only is it bigger than my house, it actually cost twice as much. He happened to be in his garage so I enquired about the 'other home' parked on his drive. Hindsight would have screamed at me "run, and don't look back." Oh well, here's what we found out...
It has an 8 litre engine, regular car A/C, but also it's own house style A/C, a motorised sun screen (he had great pleasure in showing us it in action), oh yeah.. and plastic sun guards for the windshield, with wipers and the wheels (check out the pics). He's
just returned from a few months up in Canada (5,000 miles) and he tows the truck (on the left) behind it - "wouldn't even know it was there" he says. Well aside from the 8 miles to the gallon you get. "Well actually nearly 9 now that it's settled in" he excitedly claims. Still you don't have to fill her up too often it carries an 80 gallon tank. I could go on with the stats.. and frankly he did. Until the sun started melting my ears, or was that his chat. He could talk the brass off a trumpet. (How's that for a random metaphor - I'll do better). He could talk the stripes off a zebra - "dick off a donkey"- "hairs off a lesbian" I dunno - he could talk, you get the idea. We practically had to wrestle ourselves off his driveway to leave. Ho hum, you live and learn. Just like the phrase "never follow a fat man into the bathroom" - "never ask the OAP to tell you about his RV."
Next blog - soccer and football and earthquakes and chicks and stuff... Until then...
