a bugs life
Graham and I's blatant excitement over a kids ride So, to start, let me just say that Legally Blonde was actually good. I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I also enjoying playing fetch with Lori’s cat, who is crazy, and would let me throw things for it but then would shun me. Sad face.
Also, to put everyone’s mind at rest, I am not being burned by the fires, but I will go into that later.
Anyway, this week has been interesting, I had an acting assessment which didn’t happen as my scene partner didn’t show up (with no explanation). So I left some messages on his answerphone, some rather angry, but now we are doing the scene again tomorrow. So I’m not ever so impressed as I was hoping to be done with this scene last week but never mind. Maybe I can get him to buy me some chocolate or something as an apology. I did get tears, but you can’t eat them.
I tidied and fumigated the entire house for the arrival of my family, which took a surprisingly long time. But it now looks very nice, until Dad broke the slide doors, but that’s fixed now.
So, happy birthday to everyone whose
screaming?
I think this was claifornia screaming, and we were deifnately doing some of that birthday it was this week, there have been so many; namely Dad, Matt, Katy and Vicky. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there (except for Dad), but I was thinking of you from afar.
So, on Friday I was joined by Mum, Dad and Bethany, which was lovely. I took Dad and Bethany out for a meal in Sizzlers on Friday night, while Mum slept off the journey.
Saturday we went to Newport Beach, one of the riches places around; where you can see million dollar houses stretching the length of the beach. All very different architecturally, which made it very fun. And no, I didn’t yet meet my millionaire. I was the only one who ventured into the sea, which wasn’t actually that cold, but was apparently like ice to everyone else. Pathetic.
Saturday evening I insisted we went to Rubys, and after getting lost 5 times we finally arrived - but Mum agreed it was worth it. We sat at booths, ordered from a waitress in a checked pink pinafore dress and watched a dodgem car spinning around in the centre of the restaurant. We also ‘accidentally’ let slip to the waitress that it was Dads birthday so

Mums face afterwards was priceless he got lots of clappy, smiling people singing at him and they gave him a special Ruby hat and a free sundae. (Needless to say I quickly claimed the hat and he never saw it again). But yes, it was definitely a unique birthday, I don’t think many people can say they had that many people dressed so ridiculously clapping and singing at them, or actually, they probably can.
Sunday we decided to take in Hollywood, doing the walk of fame, putting our hands in the handprints. I won-over Bethany to my belief that Harry Potter, namely Daniel Radcliffe, does not deserve handprints. Especially seeing as Audrey Hepburn doesn’t have any. We took a detour to McDonalds to see Marilyn Monroe's star, covered in grease. But that didn’t stop us sitting down next to it to pose for a picture.
After we had seen as many stars as we thought possible we headed to Beverly Hills Shopping Centre. Where we spent most of the time walking past Gucci, Calvin Klein, Guess and wandering what it would be like to live like that. Then we found H &M and Forever 21 and were entertained trying on dresses for, I’m sure Dad would call, hours.
Then back to Fullerton, where the wind is blowing a gale, 80mph actually, the dusk is everywhere and you can barely walk around.
Today the smell of smoke it very prominent and combined with the dust, the ash and the red sun it seemed to resemble the apocalypse. But I shouldn’t joke as it is scary. I know many people whose parents have had to evacuate. And last time they had a fire like this it destroyed 800 houses. I am luckily not close enough to the fire to worry but we can still smell the smoke and ash is falling. It’s amazing how quickly the weather changed. I was promised idyllic sunshine everyday, where did that go? I will never again complain about the rain (well, I will, but maybe not for a while yet)
