My family always loves going on road trips and visiting new places we never been to. Last summer, my main family and I went on a road trip from Chicago, my home, to California. This may not seem like a lot but it took forever to get there. Since it was a road trip we wanted to visit others places as we went.
Our first stop was Nebraska then Wyoming. Nebraska and Wyoming are such a beauty. I always thought of those states as an unknown states; however, I really loved their environment there. There are lots mountains. In Chicago, I never see mountains. The only thing close that may look as a mountain were little hills. Anyway, we stopped at this forest persevere that allowed us to go walking up some mountains. It was so amazing. I love nature. There were so many different kinds of trees and plants. My feet were killing me though because hiking. We, also, went to this little house that showed things that were found there that indians have left behind. Some things were very old but quite interesting.
Our next stop was Utah and Nevada. Utah was pretty nice too. We passed
by the mountains then passed by The Salt Lake Desert. I was extremely excited to see a desert because I never been to one. However, this desert was not what I expected it to be. The sand was very mushy and white. I guess thats why they call it SALT Lake Desert? I thought it was cool, but later got bored of seeing just nothing. However, many people parked their car on the side and wrote their name in the sand. I wanted to do that, so we did. When I got off the car, it was extremely hot. The sand was very mushy and hot, the air was dry, and the land was just hot! I was glad to leave a little of me there. We only entered the very tip of Nevada. The first thing I saw were casinos. We drove by Reno and enjoyed seeing the casinos that were there.
Finally we reached "the big and famous" California! It was night already when we reached there. I still could remember seeing such huge mountains covered in huge pine trees. I feel deeply in love with it. When we went to a rest area, I just went
out and gazed at the stars. There were so many stars. In Chicago, you are lucky to find at least 3 stars in a row. We stayed the night somewhere in California, so we can go to San Francisco the next day.
San Francisco was so beautiful. The buildings and those famous buses they have there. It reminded me of the old show
Full House. I have to admit. I screamed when I saw The Golden Gate Bridge. It was one of my dreams to run through there and it happened! When I was walking though the Bridge, it was a bit scary. It was because it was a foggy day, and I felt the bridge move so many times. It was very exciting though.
Next, we went to LA (Hollywood). "Oh my god," I kept on saying as I saw the Hollywood sign and walked through the Star Walk Of Fame. I could not believe my own eyes that I was actually here. I fell in love with Hollywood as well because it was like a city, yet they still had mountains. I visited Beverly Hills and saw amazing beautiful houses. I wish one day I can
have one of my own there.
Our last stop in California was Huntington Beach. Huntington Beach was the beach that they show in the store Hollister , so I had to go to that beach! It was pretty decent weather for the morning. It was about 70ish degrees. We were walking through the beach with our bathing suits unsure about going to the ocean. However, as the time went by the temperature increased and was very nice. I felt it hot but not the humid hot we get over here in Chicago. It was a good kind of hot. We saw people with surf boards and swimming in the ocean. I always wanted to go surfing one day and my dad as well. So he decided to rent a surf board and go surfing. He helped me and I had a BLAST! Although I was not good at all, I had plenty of fun.
Leaving California, we next went to Las Vegas. We arrived at midnight and there were so many people still in the streets walking around and gambling. There was so much lights and lots of casinos. Everywhere you look were casinos. We stayed in a
casino that allowed kids to be there. They had an amusement park inside and it was extremely fun!
On our way back home we stopped at our last stop at Arizona. In Arizona, we went to see The Grand Canyon. When I first saw the Grand Canyon, I felt like crying because it was unbelievable that I was actually here. The rocks seemed so fake to me to be real. It was too beautiful to be real, but it was. I loved it so much. We went to this place to hike and I was very scared (my legs were shaking) because any little mistake I can make I can fall and die, but I made it through. It was amazing.
That was our last stop, and we took route 66 on the way back home. I love going on road trips because I get experience new things that I have not seen. Even though you are stuck in the car with your siblings and parents with so much racket, it gets family together and is fun. I still am very shocked about all the things I have seen. I find it horrible that I am just stuck
in Chicago looking at building because I want to look at other things that amaze me. There are so many different things in the world that I have to see, and I believe I will one day. It is my goal. I recently got my passport, and I enjoyed what the handbook said, "With your passport, The World is Yours."
