Sorry to all of you that i have been a little slow in getting this blog entry up but i have been having horiffic issues with the internet here at the hotel, it works sometimes and not others. I actually completed an entry last night, but the computer then lost its internet connection and subsequently lost my blog entry with it! GRRRR!!!
Monday was spent at 'Knotts Berry Farm', doesnt sound really interesting does it?! Well it's not what you think.. It's actually a massive theme park. Pete Conlon from Contel reccomended it to me and i must say, it didnt dissapoint! There was a hell of a lot of adrenalin fueled rides. One of them being a wooden rollercoaster. It looked pretty innocuous but, holy s**t it was nuts. Because it's wood the whole frame flexes as the carriges ride on it and it is quite a violent and rough ride, it actually doensnt feel safe, so that makes it hell scary. Lachlan, Mitchell and myself went on it and we didnt wish to go back (well, not on that one anyway). Due to my sinus issues after getting over my cold, the ride seriously affected my inner ear
and i nearly passed out afterwoulds from disorientation, felt like i had been spun around in circles a couple of times. So, off to the sick bay i went. I was advised to take it easy for a while and drink plenty of water. After a nap and a good drink, i felt OK again, so me being the silly person i am (or can be, at the very least) i got straight on another ride with Lachlan and Dad. It was called Montezuma's Revenge. It accellerates you from 0 - 100 in 4 seconds, shoots you through a loop, then up, stops, then does the loop in reverse, backs right up a large incline, then drops you back to the station. It was BRILLIANT, however, this had the same affect and made me feel really nauseaus. In my wisdom i decided that there was to be no more 'hardcore' rides for Keegs today. We had a brilliant day all in all. The weather was in the 100's again, so VERY hot.. that's around 42 in degrees.
Anyways, yesterday we went to Disneyland. I didnt know it, but there are actually 2 parts to it. There is Disneyworld and
the Disney California Adventure Park. The adventure park has crazy rides and a lot of things to do where Disneyworld has all the shows and characters and all that jazz. So given that, we went to the adventure park and whoa! What a day!! This time it was Lachlan that ended up in the first aid. The wally managed to get sunscreen in his eye! Anyway after a quick diversion, he was happy again (and stopped complaining). Again, all the rides were brilliant and the 'Callifornia Screamer' was something i suggest everyone does before they die. Also a few more main attractions are the 'California Soaring' which is a simulation of a flyover of Californias main landmarks, this was FANTASTIC!!!! The first time i went on it, i spent hald the time laughing because it was SOOO good and the feeling of motion was SO well done! It also brought a tear to my eye when a squadron of fighter jets when screaming by! I was punching the air and saying phrases that shouldnt be repeated 😊
Other than that, i'm sure you can imagine what we got up to, but the weather was overcast and was really quite
nice, it was only around 70 degrees which is about 18 - 20 degrees, it warmed up a little in the afternoon, but wasnt as crazy as the first day here.
Now, today. We went to Universal Studios, and i must say this was just THE BEST (well so far) there werent as many 'rides' as such, but the ones that were there were pure quality. There was also a 'Backdraft' demo which had a lot of explosions and fire. I will post a few photos of the good stuff so you can all see. Shrek in 4D was also brilliant. Now, you may be wondering, what is the 4th Dimension, well.... the movie was in 3D (as you would expect) but there were effects that had water sprayed on your face, and compressed air used on several points on the seats to give the illusion of things like spiders crawling around your legs, and the wind in your hair. The seats also moved a bit too, so that was really cool. However, the three best parts of Universal Studios would have to have been the 'Animal Actors' which has a few of the animal characters used in several
movies like Evan Almighty. I will post some photos of that, but it was really amazing to see how well these animals are trained.
Another highlight would have been the 'Waterworld exhibition VERY COOL, a lot of explosions and tricks and stuff. There were actors from the OC, CSI, Heros, Resident Evil and a few others that i fail to remember. Hopefully i can get some video up for you shortly!! The internet appears to be behaving itself today!
We also went on the Studio tour and went to the set of Desperate Housewives and several other movies, there were also some VERY cool special effects on the way, i should also be able to have some video of this up for you shortly!
All in all, it's been a hellishly long, and hot day today, in the 100's again! However, we're acclimatising to it! Spedds told me a moment ago that it was minus 2 in Tasmania last night!!!! Not looking forward to that!!
Anyway, that's it for me! I'm out of here. Will report back tomorrow!
