So its five days since I last wrote and loads has happened since then!!! We have been to Lake Tahoe, Mammoth Lakes and Yosemite national park!!
Here goes (sorry if i babble, i so much to say so I hope it doesn't bore you!!)!!
We (UA (Uncle Alan), AH (Aunty Helene) Stewart, Mum, US (Uncle Spen) n ME, left early on Saturday morning from Danville and travelled west (i fink) through California! We stopped off for a stretch of legs and had lunch in a place called Grass Valley in Nevada we had a Cornish Pasty (which seemed weird that we were in America, yet eating English cuisine. Anyway after lunch we stopped of at a Mining place in Grass valley, we learnt all about the man (William Borne) who owned it etc, n it was rather interesting, apart from the tour guide had the most boring voice so I started to loose concentration (what’s new :S)!
After a long yet lovely day of traveling we arrived at our first destination Lake Tahoe! LT is a large (70 miles) lake, which has pure blue water that you can see to the bottom of the lake through (if dat makes sense)!
Stewart and I (Hamish was @ scout camp 4 the 1st part of the 'vacation@ hehe) went for a nice swim in FREZZZING water, nice and refreshing, as the weather was vvvvv hot!!
Went for tea at APPLEBEE'S, typical American food, English equivalent of Frankie and Bennys! Boy is the service quick at these places, I hant finished my drink and another one was in its place!
Day2 of our mini adventure :D (Please do hang in there and keep reading, i like sharing our adventure with u :D)
Had a nice sleep :D, US n UA went to pick Hamish up from Scout camp in Sierra (I FINK). So we (Mum, AH, Stewart and Myself) decided we would go on mini cruise on Lake Tahoe! We had to catch a shuttle bus to get to the lake and our 1st problemo of the day was where the bus stop was! We walked up and down the street but found nothing! Ah rang up and it picked us up from our hotel and we were off!! We went to every hotel in the Tahoe region, and in total picked up 3 people!! It was the most
bumpy bus ride ever, but did the job, as did our minimalist breakfast, i say no more! The bumpy ride was made worse for myself as i was bursting for the toilet 😞, i really have an incontrollable bladder! Hopped off the bus headed straight to the loos only to find they were unavailable GR8!! I had to make do with a dirty, smelly, FULL portaloo! Yet again did the job!!
Bought our tickets and we were soon plain sailing!! We had a very nice trip around the lake, it felt as thought we were at the beach the water was so blue!!
Off the boat i was hooked into the tourist shop, where flip-flops are horrendously priced and ice creams are about £10 each!! Nethertheless i ended up buying a rather nice straw hat, which i wore for the whole vacation!! Mum n AH also bought hats, the same, so now have name labels, like when they were young :D!
Went back to the Hotel and then had a stroll into Tahoe, again i got hooked into the shops, I'm soo bad, I just flush my money away!! I got some nice flip-flops, which are soo very comfortable! I
later found out they are designer so i was rather pleased, as I had got myself a bargain, or a very good knock off!! Probably a knock off! While in Tahoe we went on the hunt for Pennies, not ordinary pennies, penny collector pennies, which are squashed pennies with a picture relating to the area on, generally relating to the area. (sorry about the infinitive use of penny).
Wearing my hat and new flip-flops with the label on as i didn't have any sissors to ut it off, I enjoyed an ice cream from Coldstones, a very popular ice cream 'place' that you choose the flavor ice cream you want then... mix in a selection on toppings into it! DELICIOUS!!
Sunday was another very hot day so we went back to the pool and chilled out had a swim!
Please do keep reading, i know it is rather lengthy, but i have sooo much to say!!
Day 3!!!
Had breakfast at the hotel and Mammoth here we come, not the animal the place!! Well we had a few detours before we arrived @ our destination! First was to a ghost town in Bodie, it wasn't a spooky kind of
place, just a old mining town which had run out of gold and everybody had fled from it!! We all really enjoyed looking around it and was really interesting.
Our next stop was a visitors centre at Mono Lakes, also very good!!
We soon arrived at our luxurious hotel (my fav of the 3)!! Had a quick swim to cool down and headed into Mammoth. We caught a shuttle as it was a quite dangerous area and visited Devils Postpile and Rainbow falls!!
Dinner was rather 'fun' as we went to a local pizzeria, where all the customers except us were watching a crucial game of baseball, we looked rather out of place as we had no idea what was going on!
After coming back from dinner UA and Hamish noticed that there were 'new cars', by that i mean new models, which were been tested ready for release in 2008! Hamish really enjoyed this as he is big into cars, all the boys were intrigued, i thought i might kept my 5 minutes of fame and that top gear would be there, i was mistaken 😞! After much persuasion the man told us it was a Ford, Hamish thought
it was a Jaguar and was later proven correct!!
Day 4 (only 2days left)
UA went off early up a hill, and we (the rest of us) chilled out by the pool and then had a rather delicious breakfast. Travelled to Yosemite National Park, and gazed at the truly magnificent scenery, I could only take a bit of it and it was back to the Ipod (if anybody knows how to fix Ipods when they freeze I would be greatly appreciate of their help as mine decided it wouldn't work 😞 and 4 once I wasn't my fault, even US agreed!!).
Wherever 'we' go the weather seems to travel with us, i thought no chance of rain in AMERICA, well we got it in the style of a thunderstorm, Yosemite hasn't had rain all year, the only day I visit it rains 😞, the day before it had been 110°F! Never mind, I was still warm and within 2 hours everywhere was dry and you would never know it had rained.
The sleeping arrangements were different from the previous nights, Canvas tents on stilits in the middle of Yosemite NP. We had to lock everything with a
smell or that was edable (in other words our whole suitcase) in bear lockers as we were in their habitat! Lovely all night long I panicked that my fruity lip palm would attracted the bears to our tent and that is how I would die! 😞! However I did survive! THANKFULLY!
Day 5
(Day details are decreasing, especially Day 5)
Time to go home!! Not straight away though! Popped off at glacier point (i didn’t pop off the glacier, just visited it), we also stopped at a "TURNOUT"-lay by, AH, UA n US walked up a hill, n Hamish n Stewart sat in the car and mum and me read our books! Had a long drive home then had a nice Chinese back at AH!!
So our last five days, and we have had a fab time!!
Hope everybody back home is Ok and the sun is shining :D!! It's boiling here, im not going a nice shade of brown, just a tomato red 😞!!
My hands are aching now so im signing off!!
Much Luv Always

jealous
Sitting in my office- well at least it isn't raining- feeling very jealous, especially of the scenery and swimming.
