After our one day hiking in Zion Park in Utah we made a long trip to Death Valley in California. This included some Interstate 15 Highway driving in a cross wind near Las Vegas that had semi trailers slowing down to a crawl. At one point we thought we had blown a tire but realized when we stopped to have a look that it was the wind getting under the awning over our slider. The temperature forecast for Furnace Creek in Death Valley was 95 F so that was cool enough for us, but the wind made walking around the RV park a sandy challenge. Next day was a drive west along Highway 190 across the valley and it was only 85 F so the drive was a pleasure. We stopped at elevation -200 feet in ... read more

Thank you so much for reading our blog. It was a fun first experience to document a vacation in this way! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Well, we're back in sunny, cold Camarillo, CA. Fofi our cat is ecstatic we are home and showed it by meowing outside our bedroom door off and on throughout the night! After a long late afternoon nap, I woke the kids up from a hard sleep, they watched Little Einsteins (their favorite show that they've missed for a month!), had a quick dinner and then to bed at 7:45. Lily slept until about 8:30 the next morning (yea!) and Daniel woke up at 4:30 a.m., crawled into bed with us and slept until 7:30! So, praise God, so far the transition back has been good. ... read more

UntitledMatthew GarrettBig Day! My family and I put the final plan into motion. Our itenary is pretty tight. This will be one of those go, go, go trips. We made the dission to rent a car rather than pay for an eurail pass. Everything is pretty expensive. The hostels (which are usually cheap) are $45 per person per night. So we decided to do some camping ($15 per night) and couch surfing which is free! The countdown has begun....5 more days!... read more
