I guess you can call this a travel story. First though, I must reveal that this is my first extended typing experience on my brand new macbook pro. Damn it feels good to be a gangsta/mac guy. By setting up a demo at the Berkeley Whole Foods for Wednesday, Dec 16, I was able to sneak away to The Bay for some quality time with a best bud, Mr. Theodore Wexler (at least he could pass as a Theodore). After 5 years of my schedule never working out correctly in order for me to see his band, Tempo No Tempo, perform live...this was my exciting not-to-be-missed opportunity. I was fortunate enough to experience all of the excitingness that goes into a local progressive punk rock show all the way from the pre-show Mission Burrito up until ... read more

Hi again! Berkeley's really nice, but totally different to Stanford. Had one day of rain, but sunshine otherwise. I visited San Francisco today and it's so cool - surprisingly. Tomorrow I'm heading for Hawai'i... All the best from sunny Berkeley, Stefan... read more

This is the best story I've heard so far. The weekend before last, Ali's mom was having a family gathering at her house in Orinda, an upscale community just over the hill from Berleley, CA. Ali's sister, Sandy came early to help clean and prepare. They found some old paint cans and decided to take them to the dump. Unlike some places, toxic materials including paint need to be signed for with address and phone number because there many legalities regarding toxic disposal and you must be a resident of the area where it is disposed. Mom and Sandy took care of this technicality, signing all the appropriate forms and such. Now the story gets interesting. Mom mentioned to the attendant at the dump that she had some small bottles of chemicals back at the house ... read more

When: 25th Oct 2009 Where: Tilden Park, Berkeley Highlights: Little farm, mini train of the redwood valley & a carousel ride Mileage: 100 mi Realizing that a trip exclusively for the little one was pending, we made a stop at the not-so-far-away Tilden Park. It is one of the largest & oldest parks of the area. We all became kids for a day & it was a total blast despite the heat of the day! The little one had so much fun feeding the farm animals at the Little farm. You are allowed to bring in celery & lettuce to feed the animals. Farm animals include cows, calves, baba black sheep, goatee goats, geese, turkeys, hens & lovely bunny rabbits. A short scary ride on the carousel & we began wondering if she is the wee ... read more

It's actually "two rooms and a kitchen with a view." The apartment I rented in Berkeley is on the top floor of a rambling old house. I found it through a friend, who knows the daughter of my 90-year-old landlady on the main floor. In addition to my apartment, she also rents out a ground-floor apartment, where there are two very nice Norwegian students living at the moment. My place is “funky”, but it’s got the most fantastic views of the Bay and the fog coming through the Golden Gate like “cat’s paws” (Carl Sandburg). It’s 8 blocks from the north entrance of the UC Berkeley campus and three blocks from Alice Walker’s famous restaurant (“Chez Panisse”) on Shattuck Street. I love my neighborhood, North Berkeley. The streets are tree-lined and hilly, and you can see ... read more

I visited the Albany Bulb a couple of times, this day and 22 March 2009. I believe once a landfill for at least construction materials. You will find some old concrete and rebar in places along the trail. There is also some cool artwork in the NW corner of the bulb, that I didn't stumble across until my second visit there. Here are the photos from my visits there.... read more

El Equipo aka The Fellowship I thought I'd create a photo roster of the Fellowship. Each individual is a pure bred of a great bloodline: Berkeley, CA. Each team member represents an integral part of the team and is responsible for all necessary duties to the team. This is our code... We are coming together from different corners of the globe to meet up in Sevilla, Spain, where we will begin our quest. Charlie from Ghana, Seth & Aaron are currently in Sevilla, Raffi & Danny from NYC, and myself from Troy, NY. ... read more
