Max (Michelle & TJ's friend not the dog) took this picture for us our last night with them.
4/26/09 Michelle joined us for church this morning. It was a nice service, on the way out we met a couple that lived in the same area as Michelle . She went home and we went back to the coach to change and get Max. After doing a few basics toward getting ready to leave we went out to Michelles for a last afternoon together before we leave. She is so much better I feel comfortable leaving. We had a nice visit and a very good dinner then went back to the coach planning for a late departure the next day.

4/27/09 We got a good report from the vet and were on the road by 11 AM. There were a couple of nerve racking hills on the way to Camp Verde but we got there safely. We checked in to Zane Gray RV park and asked if there were any must see things in the area. Linda told us about Stone Tipis, Montazumas Castle and Montazumas Well. We also talked a little about Sedona and mentioned Prescott.

4/28/09 Another great day of travel. We started the day going to see the Stone Tipis, they are not in a

park or anything just out an old dirt road. Then we drove into a little state park near the camp ground. We went into town to the local Tourist Info office and got some local and Northern Arizona travel info then went to Ft. Verde State Park which is an old indian fighting fort. After lunch we went Montazuma's Castle and from there to Montazuma's Well. There was a lot of walking and up and down steep areas. It was very very enjoyable but exhausting. We plan to go to Sedona or Prescott tomorrow.

4/29/09 We started out visiting Tuzigoot (two-si-goot) National Historic Site. It was really quite neat. The ranger there told us you could tell where pueblos were that hadn't been dug up yet by the shape of the hill and the growth on it. They really are significantly different than the typical hills arround. From there we went to a small town named Jerome. It was built on top of a very steep mountain at an altitude of about 4000 ft. From there we were going to Prescott about 20 miles south (it felt like about 100 mile of crooked mountain roads) the highest point along

When we checked in at Zane Gray campground in Camp Verde, we asked if there was anything we shouldn't miss in the area and the host told us about the stone tipis
the way was 7035 feet. We didn't actually see much of Prescott. We were tired and decided to head back to camp.

5/1/09 Yesterday was laundry and cleaning day. Nothing exciting to report but it had to be done. Today we went to Sedona. We started the same way as yesterday, over to Cottonwood, but turned North on 89A. As we started north we started seeing the red rocks. We tried to stop at Red Rock State Park but had Max with us and they wouldn't let us in, absolutely no pets allowed. We went arround the red rock loop and into Sedona. We stopped at the local Tourist Info and a really nice worker showed us some places to go to see some of the more interesting formations. After driving around to several we stopped for lunch then started back planning to stop at a couple more sites on the way. We stopped at Chapel of the Holy Cross. We drove about half way up then walked the rest of the way. It was really interesting how they built it into the rocks. We planned to stop at bell rock but were so tired we decided to go

on home.

5/2/09 Today has been a rather relaxing day over all. The campground serves coffee and donuts on Saturday mornings so went to that. Both the hosts and guests here are all so friendly we are almost sorry to be moving on. After the get together we went for a drive, we were told there was a petroglyph site just above Montezuma's well. Access to it was over a very rough dirt road. It was only supposed to be about 12 miles but it took over an hour to get there. From there we were going to go see a local lake but if we found it it was only a very small pond. We got back early today but we need to start getting ready since we will be leaving after church tomorrow.

What I didn't see!
You saw a lot of things I didn't see, so I may have to go back through some of these areas! The stone tipis and Montezuma's castle are just two of those things. Great write up. Thanks for sharing.
