Aren't we having the strangest weather?

This past week the western US has been experiencing some extreme winter storms. The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings and watches Thursday night until 10:00 pm. The severe thunderstorms were capable of producing tornadoes, we were warned. Phoenix, believe it or not...receives most of it's rainfall in the summer during monsoon season. The monsoon season is typically through the months of July and August. But this past week we have received over 2 inches of rain. January's average rainfall is o.6 inches. So where does all that water go? In the dry riverbed. The Agua Fria River is usually just a dry riverbed. But with this storm it became a real river. I am told this only happens every 5 ~ 10 years, and usually during monsoon season.
