We forgot to mention yesterday that we could not follow our direct route to Page, AZ due to a detour. Unlike the short detours we are use to back East, this one took us 62 miles out of our way. Also, our GPS kept trying to redirect us to dirt roads on Indian reservations.

In the morning of Day 8 we toured the Glen Canyon dam and recreation area. The water level at Lake Powell was 42 feet below normal average due to a 13 year drought. You can see it on the lower level of the photos (white rim). The dam forms Lake Powell. Both our sons Alf and Dan worked at the Bull Frog marina on Lake Powell one summer. We think they would be very surprised as to how the area has changed, unfortunately, we were not able to see Bull Frog marina as we were heading to our next destination, Zion National Park.

Note how low the water level is on Lake Powell. There has been a drought here for years.
