Sunday's rest day at the stream ;-) Limited internet connectivity at the Grand Canyon, my phone does pretty well if I placed it in the right window of the RV, so there are 3 days covered in this blog.
Day 11 - Sunday the 19th was a day of much needed rest; Mi Hyon and I hung around the Zion River RV resort and enjoyed some great weather. Many of you may not know, but Mi Hyon has a stream fetish and loves to sit by the river w/ her feet in the cold water. Add some Lager and it just doesn't get much better for her. For me it was nice to not have to drive anywhere until Monday...then it's a short 320 miles to the Grand Canyon...
Day 12 - It's now Monday and we're on the road again w/ some high winds; I'm used to our sail boat rig after Kansas so Utah wind is nothing ;-) The first part of the drive presents some wide open (boring) landscape views, but once we got to the Kaibab National forest it turned beautiful real fast and we were back in the mountains! The rig does pretty well in the hills so I made great

Arrived in Arizona! use of the exhaust brake again on the 7% down grades, and got to go slow enough on the uphills to enjoy the views. All was going well until we happened upon a very bad motorcycle accident...looked like the rider lost control and went full force ito a cliff wall. There were already many concerned travelers there providing first aid and directing traffic, so we said a prayer and moved on our way. After we cleared the mountains we were once again out in the open desert. There are homes out here in isolation, I can't imagine what they do for a living in the desert by themselves. Finally we arrived at the gate of Grand Canyon National park and made our way through to the Trailer Village inside the park. It is run by a contractor, not the NPS, and it is not what I would consider up to NPS standards. It's dusty, dirty, and not well maintained, but the location can't be beat. And while blogging I can look out the window and watch herds of elk walk by. That's a big animal, they look aboult like a horse walking in front of the rig. Anyway we got

Northern Az road, not much to see set up and headed out to see the canyon...
Day 13 - The Canyon truely lives up to it's name, of all the canyons we've seen this is the Grand Daddy of them all; however, Bryce is still our favorite and we took the most pictures at Arches. Kudo's to the NPS and the foresight of our Nation's leaders--the US National Parks are a jewel for all of the world to see and should be a great source of pride for our country! We took so many pictures at each location and will have fun putting together a DVD to record our travels. After multiple visits to through the park, we headed for an afternoon on Historic Rt 66 in Williams Az. What a really cool place, Williams has made an industry of Route 66 and I think it is the liveblood of the town. We had a great lunch, (expensive but great) and enjoyed some live music. We were both so glad we made a trip to Williams, it was worth the 1 hour drive each direction! Tomorrow we drive to Albuquerque, NM for a 5 stay stop and will check out Route 66 sights along the way.
