Days 13-14 Icy Strait Point and Sea Days

Well, time to catch up. On Wednesday, we arrived at Icy Strait Point, AK. See pictures. I'm not sure why, they must have paid off Holland America to make this a day stop. After tendering in to shore, to a cannery converted to shops, what else, we walked around, took some pictures and went back early on board. The weather wasn't bad for a change, very little rain. But essentially a wasted stop in our view. We continue to enjoy the onboard entertainment, especially the classical violinist from Budapest. After trying out several dining options on board, we also have decided the Lido deck restaurant which is a very casual buffet is fine for breakfast only. The other onboard restaurants are much better food wise and service-wise as well.

Thursday was a bit of a rock and roll sea day. Obviousy swells made the ship sway. Bob sang in the Karaoke contest thursday night with 5 other singers. They were supposed to eliminate to 3 for the finals but couldn't agree on who to cut so all 6 will perform again. A note to larry and vicki, we thought the Surprise Idol judges were bad? These were worse!

We attended an art auction Thursday and bought a lithograph for our living room which will be delivered when we get home. Had not intended to, but, hey, free champagne and good picture go hand in hand.

Ate in the Italian restaurant Thursday night, very good indeed, so we will return often.

And, after 2 weeks of traveling, our clothes still fit! It does help to hit the gym on sea days as well as walking up and down the stairs ... we're on deck 2 and food is on deck 8!

We're now in Anchorage, which is where I am typing this blog (a nice comfortable chair with outlet in Nordstroms--what I've learned is to look for free wifi, electrical outlets and chairs as my first priority ... Susan's are a little different, but then you all knew that!)
