It is time to head South

We leave in 36 hours. It's too cold for us not to be excited... -30 F.


We have a tentative plan here it is: Anchorage to Miami. We spend 24 hours in Miami before continuing on to Buenos Aires. A couple of days in BA Then a couple of days in Uruguay. South by bus to Bariloche, Argentina. Several days spent in Bariloche seeing "the lake district". Then traveling Further South to Coihaique, Chile to see friends at NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School). We do not know how much time we will spend there but we would like to experience Northern Patagonia a bit. We will depart for the coast and take a Ferry North from Chacabucco to Puerto Montt. Then Possibly a train to Santiago. If time allows we would like to then fly down to Ushuaia for a couple of days before departing South America for Alaska.

In a month it will be interesting to see how well we accomplished this itinerary. We have only one reservation for our first night in South America. The rest of the time will form itself...I hope.
