Today the Ancell's and the Osborn's were supposed to take a plane ride to see glaciers and Mt McKinley, but the weather did not cooperate. Their flight was cancelled and since the weather is supposed to be worse tomorrow, we cancelled our flight. Tonight we had a wonderful BBQ and the weather was very cooperative (cool, but no rain). Tomorrow we are off to Anchorage.... read more

After the visitor center we drove through a tunnel to a scenic viewpoint where we could see a corner of Portage Glacier and got pretty good views of Shakespeare, Burns, and Byron Glaciers. A very interesting stop. Next stop was Portage Glacier Visitors Center. It is located literally on the lake at the outfall. Nicely done. Gena & Charlie got patches and stamped. We only got to see the upper end of the glacier as it has retreated around a corner and out of direct view from ... read more
