Alright. Two part entry in this one: yesterday and today.
Yesterday - Ketchikan I did very little today - Mom had more excitement.
Why so little excitement for me? The frog legs got their revenge.
I woke up around 5am feeling like crap – nauseous, bloated, etc. I went to the bathroom, nothing doin’ so I went back to try and fall asleep. Mom came back from breakfast, but then went to search for some Gravol or something. Unfortunately, in doing so we went to the Medical Clinic on the boat... *sigh* She came back with a strict order from the clinic: get yo' butt down here.
Damn frog legs.
Tidbit info for anyone going on a cruise: if you have any symptoms of the flu... you will be quarantined, even if you're totally fine. So, I was stuck for 24 hours in lockdown in my room... faaaaaaaaantastic, eh? No ziplining for me tomorrow morning. NOT IMPRESSED.
I got a needle for good measure which totally, and I mean totally, knocked me out for the day. Goodbye Ketchikan.
I told Mom to go visit around without me - no point of
Celebrity Millennium
Our ship chilling in the Passage watching me sleep haha. She had an excellent time wandering around the town, she even got to meet Santa Clause 😉
Today - Icy Strait Point I continued my sleep marathon... I don't know what was in that shot, but it sure as hell did the job. I woke up at 10am, but had to wait until 11am to get "released".
Or noon.
...
No?
Oh.
FINALLY at 1pm they called to check on me... finally free. Thank you.
It was around 1:30pm by the time we finally got off the boat - I was just happy to be out of the room, frig. We were tendered at Icy Point - so we took the little boats to head into "town". I use the word town very loosely as it's pretty much a tourist area built near another town (Hoonah).
I was totally bummed to not be able to do the Zipliner (it's only available until 11am... and since I was quarantined.... no go). Instead, we spent the afternoon just wandering around the stores and this neat little museum that talked about fishing and the machinery they used.
Inukshuk
Sitting nicely by the water We then went for a walk along the “beach” … which was really just a bunch of pebbles and rocks. It was a beautiful view over the water though. There was a little inukshuk too which was super cute. Mom didn’t want to walk around the entire beach, so I went out to explore a bit on my own. I wandered along the beach about 15 min or so, then came back to meet Mom. We took some great photos of the ravens – they were freakin’ HUGE. They were ruffling their feathers and strutin’ their stuff. Spiffy.
Lunch was quite low-key since I still wasn’t sure what I could stomach or not. I had pizza and of course managed to drop my slice on the floor. Wahh. Total fail. Apparently I'm going to fight my food the rest of the trip haha.
Rest of the night was also low-key. We wandered around the shops a bit, sent a few emails, and that was that. Night was spent watching the sunset, seeing a few whale tails (yeah, it's impossible to get photos... by the time you see the whale, you can't react with the camera fast enough) and
Rocks
Along the "beach" drinking coffee/tea on the deck.
We ended the day watching the Newlywed Game, sipping a margarita (me) and rum and coke (Mom). We laughed so hard haha - I always love watching the couples that participate... I love that most cruises end up having this as an activity.
And that's that - tomorrow we're off to Juneau!
