The last 11 days or so - with some poetic licence.

We set off early and take in a wildlife refuge before breakfast. Nice to get close up to bears, moose, caribou and various others even if they are effectively in a zoo. They have got a couple of orphan bear cubs who were cute. Maintaining a healthy dose of scepticism we (well, Ed) speculated on whether any of the bad luck that has afflicted these poor animals was actually engineered, to ensure a successful wildlife refuge. Who knows?

Then got back to Anchorage, took the car back a little dirtier than when we picked it up 5 days ago, and went back to our great hostel (26th Street Hostel again). Spent a bit of time wandering around thinking about buying a new digital SLR camera. We'd be very interested to hear from anyone who's got one.

Almost 4 weeks in and we are significantly behind on our budget. We knew Alaska would be an expensive part of the trip but didn't anticipate spending quite so much. Anyway, Mr and Mrs Simmonds have initiated debate on how to get back on track with our spending. Gemma's plan - less spending. Ed's plan - double or quits on red when we get to Las Vegas. Discussions are ongoing...

hey globetrotters...i've just tuned in after missing almost two weeks worth of blogs - great reads on a Monday! your adventures read well and it certainly seems you're off to a great start. either your trip isn't mapped out going forward or i am inept at figuring out how to view it. i'm curious about your plans over the next few weeks - as you know, i quite enjoy Vegas and might consider hopping a plane. i'll stay closely tuned in to your blogs. Keep safe!
