Yesterday we went to Juneau. It was a cold rainy day, but we all took in some great sights. Kay & I took the tram to the top of Mt. Roberts & then hiked the Alpine Loop at the top of the mountain. What a view. In the visitor center, there was a lady selling cookbooks commemorating the 50th anniversary of statehood for Alaska. It is hard to believe but I can still remember when there were only 48 states! We then went back down the tram & had lunch in town at the Red Dog Saloon. Good food & an interesting environment (They had Wyatt Earp's pistol on display & I got a picture. See the picture & story.) We then did a little shopping & went back to the ship to get ready for our helicopter
ride.

Trey & Andrew took a bus tour & ate at the Red Dog a little later. Andy & Joe took a bike trip to a brewery with their morning.

The afternoon was a high watermark for our family. We flew over some glaciers & landed on the Norris Glacier. Pictures & words cannot adequately describe the feeling. Simply amazing! We had to split up into 2 helicopters to balance the load. Kay has really enjoyed the unlimited buffets & has not been able to follow my strict dieting regimen. (NOT!) The 6 of us really enjoyed the flight & sights & discussed them well into the evening.

More tomorrow.
