Like anything, you really can have too much of a good thing. We were certainly ready to leave the ferry behind this morning, even if the rolling seasick feeling stayed with us for a further 24 hours.

We arrive in Whittier, a port near to Anchorage - our destination - as the crow flies but not all that easy a journey. At 7:30 when we got there we had a choice - wait until 7pm for a train or pay $40 each to go in Manuel's van. There are more Puerto Ricans living in New York City than in any city in Puerto Rico, we learn. After initial reluctance, he drops us off at our hostel (The 26th St Hostel - a 100% recommendation from us should anyone be passing through Anchorage).

We wander downtown and learn about Alaska's parks that we want to visit later on. We also see 2 wolf cubs which looked, but clearly weren't, very cute. Briefly wondered if our budget would stretch to lunch out but then remembered we are in America where one meal lasts even a hearty appetite for a week.

Then just sat around in the hostel eating and drinking and discussing travels and countries with others. The Argentinian hostel owner found it hilarious to refer to his hand as the 'Hand of God' when plugging a lead into the broken computer. Google found an image of Maradona doing a comical dive which became said computer's wallpaper. The computer had broken earlier in the day but as luck would have it, there were 3 Russian teenagers staying. An hour later the computer was fixed.
