DenaliDenaliDenali

See what i mean... striking... but not stunning!! If that makes sense :-)
So the reality of the cruise ending was a little harder for mumsy... but it still sucked having to go back to eating and sleeping cheaply!!! Anchorage was our first stop... this is the biggest city in Alaska and well to say the least we didnt really enjoy it.... we only stayed 2 nights and were off to Denali NP! Here wqe stayed in the cutest hostel right on the river... there was an awesome bunch of people there and the nights (that were not dark) were spent round a campfire or chatting to the groovy people staying there!!! The fact that it never got completley dark took a while to get use to... your body doesnt feel tired cause the sun is still shining at 11.30 at night>????????????????????????

We went to Denali NP the next 2 days... here we did some hikes.. took a long bus trip right up into the tundra (the sparse landscape at an altitude where nothing can grow) The landscape was striking... yet far from 'beautiful'... good to see but nothing to want to see again!!! My highlight of course was that we saw 'yogi and boo boo' Well a mum and her cub...

How cute... dont you just wanna hug them :-)
they were just walking through the scrub it was pretty cool :-)

After Denali we headed up to Fairbanks... and of course the furhter North we got... the longer the sun shon... man this was weird... and the poor people had to put up with only 6 hours of light in the winter.... from one extreme to the next :-( Fairbanks was cool.. we went to some hotsprings were the water was about 42 degrees... man it was so relaxing... and really quite hot :-) This was thr best way to spend an arvo :-) Oh yeah on the way we saw a moose chomping on some leaves it was great!!! My wild life checklist was getting good... a bear- check.... a moose- check!!!

After Fairbanks we headed off to the south of Anchorage a ended up in a little town called Cooper Landing. It was set right on the river and was a great place to relax and take in the natural beauty of this great state :-) Here mumsy and I went to do our laundry and ended having a few to many drinks... man i got so drunk... i even had the hicups!!! Met some

of the local clour- they were really interesting.. i'm sure i talked their ears of hehehe :-) Cooper Landing was my favourite on land destination... it was so pristine, and friendly... and the river was the most awesome glacial green colour ever!!!! Saw more moose to :-)

Overall Alaska was cool- i's been spoilt in the rockies with some amazing scenery... so parts of it werent as exciting for me as they were for mumsy... but it was still beautiful :-)

Till next time peace xoxox
