We had a travel day today. Went through three states (Louisiana, Mississippi, & Alabama) and ended up in Foley, AL. It was a nice drive. We traveled down the Mississippi coastline for awhile through Gulfport. Their beaches were nice but the water is very brown and dirty looking. We stopped for a short time so that Don could try and get rid of a headache which I am thinking was maybe 20 to thirty minutes. It was bright and sunny when we stopped but then a dark cloud just opened up over us and it started pouring rain. Within five minutes it was over and the sun was back out. Crazy. Guess that is why it is so humid here.
Foley is located about 7 miles from Gulf Shores, AL which is where all the Alabama people go for beach recreation. We are also only 45 minutes away from Pensacola, FL so we are going to take a day trip over there. Excited to check out the area as it seems to have a lot to see.
Tonight we went to a restaurant called Lambert's which we have been to in Missouri. They are famous for throwing their rolls.
Yes, I said throwing. Look them up on the internet and you will see what I mean. They have good homemade food but they are famous because they throw the rolls to you. I don't mean they toss them to you either. They will throw them across the room so you better be ready to catch these steaming, hot, yummy, made from scratch rolls because you don't want to drop them. We had a really sweet college age waiter so at the end of our dinner we told him we were from California and asked him where some other good places to eat in Foley were. Well, we should have known better because he was like, "Oh, Applebee's is really good." I politely told him we had those in California too. He then suggested Ichiban, which I think is a chain Japanese restaurant so I just quickly tried to change the subject to what was there to do in the area. He asked if it was just the two of us. I said yes. He said well you are in luck because we have a special on Tuesday nights at the bowling alley so ya'll could go up there and
bowl. By then I couldn't look at Don or I would have laughed so I just thanked him and hoped that he would scramble away before I lost it. He was so cute because he was completely serious. Maybe we should have given the bowling thing a try.......
I am including the pictures that I put on Facebook because some of you aren't on Facebook. Also, I hope you are getting my blogs because I have heard from some of you that you aren't getting emails when I blog. I don't blog every day but I did blog a few days ago and I did 3 at once to catch you up. If you didn't get the previous ones and you did get this one you just need to hit " previous" after you view this blog and you can read the past blogs.
Hope all is well. We'll talk soon 😊K
