What role do women play in this society? Do they have equality? If not, what discrimination do women in this country face?

Women's role in Mexico has changed dramatically over the years.Women were expected to depend on men all the time. Men would do all the work and be the "Man of the house" while the women stayed at home all day. Women were housewives and took care of their children while men went off to work for the whole day. Women didn't really play a big role in society before.

In 1953, women were finally able to vote and had the chance to be elected even though men were still the main leaders.Now women work outside of their homes as teachers, nurses, street venders, and domestic workers. This was a big jump for women and it changed women's role forever.Even though women were able to do this, they still received hate.Women would get harassed and their wages would be significantly lower than men's wages were.Even worse,some women would get kidnapped or murdered because people didn't like the idea of women being independent. However, through all these problems, women still remain independent and determined
